Former SA Liberal Leader David Speirs has been arrested and formally charged by SA Police on two counts of the supply of a controlled substance. The arrest took place on 26 September for events that allegedly took place on 2-3 August and 9 August this year. Speirs is now on police bail.

The matter became public yesterday after Speirs posted a self recorded interview on his Facebook page announcing his arrest and claiming it was part of some deep state conspiracy.

Speirs faces a maximum $50,000 fine and 10 years jail.

The member for Black said he intends to resign from parliament later this month.

"Deep State conspiracy"!!! Of course it is champ. Even by government standards SA government is an unfunny joke. Has been as long as I can remember. Best view of SA is in the rear view mirror.
