Who would he replace? Doesn't make sense as he's not even a leftie and if Starc is having a problem, I would have thought they'd want another left-hander.
Hazelwood still in doubt
Starc twigged back
Cummins close contact

Still think england will find some way to justify having woakes in the side, should be leach/jimmy/wood/robinson for mcg but thats a shithouse tail.
I can see them going Woakes to seven and six bowlers. MCG has been dead for bowling for most of the last half decade or so.

I don't think it's a good idea, but I can see it happening for sure.

Harris is a great shield player but the guy just doesn't have it in him for whatever reason at test level. The fact that he keeps failing can't be helping either, given that he knows he's under intense scrutiny. Give someone else a go, can't really be worse.

he simply cant help playing dangerous balls.

that's his issue.

Heard Ed Cowan argue that he deserved the series so we can finally decide if he is up to it at test level.

As if the previous 12 tests aren't enough....
Yeah it is not the fact that he is underperforming, he is literally statistically one of the worst test openers we have ever had.

He has the same issues in his game that he has had previously which saw him get dropped, why do we assume they are just going to magically disappear?

I keep seeing people mention not wanting to throw in street or hunt in to the Ashes but in terms of a debut this is about as easy as you are going to get.

What happens when we give Harris the rest of the summer and he continues to spud it up? Our next 3 test series are away from home against Pakistan, Sri Lanka and India. Do we think debuting Hunt or Street in those series is going to be ideal? No. Is going back to Khawaja for those series going to be idea? No. So unless Puc is magically just ready to go in a few months we will be stuck in a really tough place.

If only we were playing shield games the same time as the tests, his confidence must be down.Needs to go back and play a shield game and get a big score and see how his replacement goes. The sooner we scrap this T20 crap in December the better off Australian cricket will be.As for those overseas trips coming up Khawaja looks the logical player to open with Warner although Warners overseas form worries me.

Jeez we really have wasted the summer if we walk to the 1st test in Pakistan with Warner and Khawaja as our openers

Agree, hopefully a few shield games with all our top players playing but I think yet again 1 day and T20 games will prevent this.At this stage I would seriously consider taking Street over there but the biggest worry is how many lead up games before the 1st test which is a problem for all countries touring overseas these days.

This is why giving them a debut at home in an almost certain ashes win against a cooked English team is ideal.

They succeed and look good, take them on tour and we may have our long term answer. They struggle and aren’t up to it yet? Fine send them back to shield level to work on any weaknesses.

Have been saying it all summer. Also gets them playing in conditions they know. Plus they have a top 4 that is experienced thus can protects him

Myth there were a few bad seasons when they changed the base of the wicket block

Last two pitches have been pretty good, the Shield pitches have been perfect at the MCG this year too.

We finally agree on something, lol but there is talk of Maxwell going there and do you mind no red ball cricket for over 2 years.Perhaps it is the selectors you should be having a go at,not the player that is out of form.

No thank you whatsoever with you and Maxwell in test cricket. I am a fan in limited overs cricket though you won’t see me saying otherwise.

I have said that from the beginning whilst Harris is ordinary the selectors are worse by continually picking him and the buck stops with the coach. What on earth does Langer see?

Ah yes the MCG still flat after the new ball loses its shine...lets hope Matt Page can produce a decent wicket....that's why he was brought in

We have to be on our game our record is not great there for the past few years...we beat the kiwis but India has beaten us twice at the G plus we had Cooks epic on a road which resulted in a draw

Everyone is writing off England atm......but I reckon this test is going to be close

Pitch was great last year offered something for everyone

Pitch was not great last year. Suited our opponents right down to the ground and lacked the one thing we need more than anything - bounce

It was a fair pitch what more do you want? Spin for the spinners, Ashwin did well. Movement for the quicks and you could get runs. It’s our fault we picked Lyon who was playing with a busted finger, a batting lineup that was terrible and a bowling unit that had 2 bowlers

Lets see if Richardson bowls full with the new ball. Nothing I hate more is seeing a quick bowl short of a length, beat the bat and not take wickets. It makes bowlers get excited but it's not a good look. He's a talented bowler but hasn't bowled his best.
“The English method”, looks good, achieves not much

I'd want a pitch that suits our greatest asset - our quicks. What do you need for them to excel? Pace and bounce. The MCG hasn't had that under Matt Page or the previous curator.

I want pitches country wide that crack and make things difficult for batsman who have half a tree dried into each bat, roped in boundaries and fresh gloves every 30 minutes. A Test is supposed to Test everyone, drop ins are creating boring one sided spectacles, and the MCG has been the worst of our drop ins

Look I hate drops in pitches too but for this type of pitch I had no problems last year it wasn’t the pitch that caused us to get flogged. The pitch was fair.

Ideally we’d go back to no drop ins though. Glad the SCG and the GABBA haven’t sold out yet for silly drop in rubbish
