Hi,

There isn't an open training session on Wednesday but all 2018 members have been invited to an open training session this weekend. Details have been sent out via email.
I didnt get that email for some reason.

Just a guess here but perhaps it was directed to Qld based members who are other loyal lion renewals or had already purchased their membership well before when the email came out on the 8th of November? May not be the answer though

I joined on the 6th Nov......but it does make sense for it to be for Brissy members, although LI did say all 2018 members so a bit of a mystery.

A Gold Member is not considered 'Loyal' enough.
I will admit though, i hadn't purchased the new membership before the 8th of Nov.

Was just speculation on my part as to how it systems sometimes segment databases. They may have selected all members, however that may have meant something different in the system to what was Intended by the user. If you hadn't quite renewed then it may not have classed you as a current member at that time. Loyal lion is just the name they give to those on an auto membership rollover. I'd imagine that in the system they're always classed as members due to the automatic nature of their membership renewal each year.

May be worth providing your member number and email to Lions_Insider via pm to check if you were supposed to have received it. May help them identify possible holes or issues in their database

Also it would be worthwhile double checking your junk or spam folders as well just to make sure it's not there

I would imagine it is the Loyal Lion members as it is automatic renewal.
But i have stopped receiving all corespondence via email from the club. I thought i would have got something from the club in relation to the draft, new draftees.
I am getting nothing.

Hi LI. The list lodgement for 2018 has Jake Barrett as Category A player, http://www.lions.com.au/news/2017-11-29/list-lodgement however on the website he is listed as a Senior listed player. http://www.lions.com.au/season/players/senior-players

I believe this was answered a page or so ago in that player profiles hadn't been updated since the end of the season where Barrett was an upgraded rookie hence on the senior list. Once the new draftees and everyone's details are updated I'd imagine it will be correct

Cheers for that.

Hey LI. Just getting ready to renew our Vic based membership. This is something we would not do but the club needs to be really careful with the pricing for Vic members with our membership. Considering how much it costs for an adult to get into the game and how much it costs for your membership ( if you don't attend any Gabba games) you are not getting any value. I know we get a $ 15 voucher as well. You would be better off paying GA at the gate and be better off with extra money in your pocket. As I said something we would not do at the moment as then the club loses out on the money but I am sure a percentage of people in Victoria would look at it and say nahh will just pay at the gate if you can't attend every Melbourne game. It also hurts the hip pocket when your kids fall out of the family ticket bracket. The individual prices then when you work out it is just not value.

I raised this exact point with the membership department about a year ago, they couldn't understand how I thought it wasn't value based on acces to the GABBA games. Was a really disappointing conversation with them.

Agree, it's not great value.

As I understand it, the club has to pay the full general admission price (or close) for all attendances by Vic members to Melbourne games. The club only really makes money if we Vic members are a no-show. Bare in mind, the club also incurs other costs administering those memberships.

I've raised this issue with the club on numerous occasions over the years. Not complaining about it from my point of view, but urging the club to lobby the AFL into changing the way Vic memberships work. My view is that the club should get to keep 100% of the value of memberships, so that Vic memberships are a true membership. The argument that as the leagues only merged club, Victorian members are at 'home', and the club by virtue of the relocation have had to surrender the revenue.

The club's been apprehensive about raising this with the AFL and other clubs, as it is well supported and subsidised by the AFL in so many other ways...

I try and get to as many games as I can, but know that I won't get to all of them. So, I have for many years viewed my membership as part donation to the club. As long as I can afford it, I'll keep doing it.

Thanks mate,I alluded to this a week or so ago,and similarly, am writing it off as a donation, which ,not being a benevolent institution, I doubt I'll do in future, unless there is a pay off..like finals access.

Yeah for only 5 games in Vic hard to know. we all want good value for money..

I usually go with a mate to a few non lion games.. so I'm in a different boat ...I looked into getting an AFL Bronze Membership @$250..linked back to the Lions which would gives me access of up to 10 matches at the MCG/Ethiad..Access to 2018 Toyota AFL Finals Series (Weeks 1-2) and Access to 2018-19 International Cricket Season ( which has the bonus value for me) ..I can also get a reserved seat upgrade and I can invite extra family and friends into the AFL reserve with a Members' Guest Pass.

Decided this year on the Clubs Victorian Plus membership @ $255....which according to our website gives me the 5 Lions away matches at the MCG and Etihad Stadium, 5 Lions home matches at the Gabba and 6 non-Lions matches at the MCG excluding ANZAC Day...Seriously considering the Bronze AFL Membership next year.
