Any luck with the wide brim hats?

3 game again for 2018 - but upgrading to Prime. Games v Demons, Hawks, Carlton.

Also getting a road trip crew to go to Metricon.

Not this season unfortunately.

Gear orders are put in 6-9 months in advance. I've let the Lions Shop know about the requests for wide brim hats and hopefully there's an option in the future.

Thanks for rejoining as a member!

Received my membership pack today, rapt with the maroon hat, was thinking it may have been blue, so pleased it wasn't.

..while on the subject of what merch. we can get and gear orders.....is it possible to have our membership lanyard in our club colours e.g maroon?

Minor detail in the scheme of things but just a personal bugbear of mine. Haven't had a genuine mainly maroon one yet.....again, this year is silver. Would rather show loud and clear which team I follow, than what level membership I'm on. Thanks.

Cheers.

Lions_Insider Are there any updates on the new base with the election now over?

Will $40M be enough for a top-end training base for our players and when is it likely to start being built?

No updates at the moment.

Previously posted this about the government funding:

The Club has secured funding for the training and administration complex.

The funding sought from the Queensland Government is to fund the grandstand and spectator amenities required to host matches – public toilets, seating and shade around the ovals included.

The funding sought from the Federal Government is to fund the broadcast lighting (to enable AFLW matches to be broadcast at night, in prime-time, when it is cooler), and toward the community-accessible pool, meeting rooms and auditorium.

There are considerable cost savings to the Club and all tiers of government by building in a single construction phase – it will also speed up delivery of The Reserve and prevent the disruption of the Club and major events once open.

Extensive site master planning and concept design work has been completed already, but we can’t confirm a definitive detailed design until partner funding is confirmed.

Thank you for the update - Given the importance of the T & A complex, does the club have a deadline in mind where they simply say they can't wait any longer and will commence construction regardless? (T & A only that is)

Hi MacMum,

Good point on the lanyard. I'll check with the membership team and see what the go is.

Hi MacMum,

The colour of the lanyard does match the membership level. Hasn't been too much feedback requesting all maroon lanyards yet but if enough members are after this then I'm sure Member HQ might provide it as an option in the future. All AFLW members are given a maroon lanyard.

Thanks for getting back to me Lions_Insider...........Out of curiosity I got all my past lanyards out of the drawer, I now have six of them and not one looks like the Lions or is maroon, either brown (for bronze level) navy blue or silver.

...anyhoo, perhaps next year, but I appreciate you enquiring on my behalf. cheers:)

Hi LI,

It's been said before by others but it's worth repeating...

Please pass on my thanks and admiration to the Comms team as well as membership team. As a country based member the video's, tweets, instagrams etc are such a vital link to the club. The quality of the recent series of draft videos is brilliant and provides an amazing insight into the club and how we've grown. We are light years ahead of where we were a few short years ago with member communication and interaction - it's such a positive step.

Likewise the membership team. I had to ring to change some details a few days ago because the account wouldn't let me alter it and they were just brilliant. Really helpful and just happy to chat and sort things out.

Thanks again, and please let them know as members we recognise just how important it is that we are as professional off the field as on it... it doesn't go unnoticed!

Hi Lions insider. I’ve been working on an idea to help reconnect with the Fitzroy fans in Melbourne. I also have no connection to Fitzroy, I followed the bears prior to the alignment. I just have an interest in getting the clubs membership numbers back up. Now the idea is simple really, start using Fitzroy when you travel to Melbourne. Stay in a hotel in Fitzroy, eat in Fitzroy, go and watch the club play in the amateur league on a home game if you can, sign autographs and cheer them on. Give out a best player award and invite a good player to train for a week during preseason. Maybe ask the club if the captains run/sessions can be held at the oval sometimes. Players could sing the Fitzroy song after a Melbourne win after the lions song.

All are just a few ideas to bring the clubs together, bridge the pain and hopefully get them back through the turnstiles cheering us on. The lions have staff members in Melbourne who could start meeting with businesses in Fitzroy and the FFC just for a start. Rebuild the roots for the future.

Love the idea of a captains run out at Brunswick St oval.

The Fitzroy theme song before a Melbourne game with the old strip.

Personally I can’t think of anything that would get the Melbourne fans more up and about before a game.
Might not resonate with a few but a full blown throw back to the Fitzroy football club for a round would generate huge interest and support if advertised the right way.

Love it. If this was happening I'd actually get on a plane and go down for a weekend/ game (which I have never done) as it would be like visiting 'family ' and be of greater inrerest than just watching a game in a different place.

The Victorian Family could also be held at Brunswick st oval. The FFC could make a dollar opening up their canteen for it. If it rains then head inside and make it real intimate.

Great sentiment. Anything too help keep the link and promote Fitzroy is always appreciated. Even a small gesture such as wearing blue shirts (when possible ) would be great

Appreciate it! Thanks. Will pass along the feedback and thanks for signing up as member again for 2018.
