This is like the Spud Frawley days doing lots of things on the cheap. We’re going to be drafting a lot of kids next year who will be probably playing a lot of vfl games combined, so is Batchelor the right man for this?

I would have a bigger problem if there were no changes at all, I'm not sure if Jake is the answer either, but I think he must be given a chance & hopefully have the VFL playing the same style of game that they develop over the next few seasons. I'm more than happy to see what the coach & the other assistants can bring to the table & I'm confident that bringing back Caracella can hopefully get us back on track.

He's basically achieved nothing as a coach and it reflects almost his playing career. It's going to be interesting

I'd say most people realise Yze is dead man walking. Losing Rioli, Bolton, Dusty, Baker and Graham we're gonna be worse next year. Our starting mids/rucks are all gonna be older and slower, the incoming draft kids will be struggling and puttering along. 40% of the 2021 draft haul are recovering from long term injuries and the rest I'm not convinced are gonna be more than role players.

If Balta doesnt sign by start of the season the FA circus around him will never end and he will get ludicrous offers. If Battle got offers of $950k and Weitering $1.5mil surely Balta gets offered $1.2- $1.3mil. Gonna be lots of 10 goals - 100 point losses. Lynch back we might jag a couple of wins against cellar dwellers if he kicks a bag.. Yzes not gonna get an extension on the back of that and the media will be hunting for his scalp into his 3rd year.

Whether Yze likes it or not the likes of Newman and Morris have the luxury of being ex Tigers and will be looking out for themselves at that point and either distancing themselves from him or actively undermining him with micro aggressions and planting seeds in the ears of the right people. They're not gonna die on the Hill of team Yze.

The attitude and effort the VFL guys showed most weeks despite being severely undermanned every game is why Morris is so highly rated. That team had no business making finals. I think he will be a great addition to the senior coaching group.

Morris as a player was a hard bastard that never gave up, that attitude clearly rubs off on his players.

im trying to be positive ... really am with Yze and the new CEO... but we have essentailly brought in the saints head recruiter and developer in the VFL and they have been the worst preformers.

If we got the Dogs or swans recruiter that would be good head hunting...

Players make coaches, look at Pagan with Carlton, Clarko with Norf currently, both very highly rated but obtained sub par outcomes with struggling teams. I thought Morris did a remarkable job this year, couldn’t have been much more difficult. Can’t comment on Batchelor, no idea if he can coach or not but happy to give him a chance at least. Also impossible to judge Yze yet and probably will be for at least a couple of years, if you don’t have the cattle there is only so much you can do.

We were very lucky with Rance that we had one of the all time great backlines, with smart versatile defenders that could cover as well as Balta coming through. This time we are replacing 3 of our top 5 players with kids in the draft who will hopefully be good in time, but they won't be leading us to wins in year 1 or 2.

We were very lucky with Rance that we had one of the all time great backlines, with smart versatile defenders that could cover as well as Balta coming through. This time we are replacing 3 of our top 5 players with kids in the draft who will hopefully be good in time, but they won't be leading us to wins in year 1 or 2.

Better than I think ya reckon? When Lids and Rance left we still had 6 A graders and 6-8 B graders. Look at nearly every other teams kids and there's several to get massively excited over. By virtue of being at the top of ladder, selling the farm for Hopper and Taranto and burning 1st round picks on duds who leave and are lost to AFL (not even getting pick 80 in exchange) our kids are bland and most wouldn't get a game at nearly every other team.

We've got Samson on a 3 year deal when he's a bust. Campbell, Brown and Ralphsmith were considered our most improved yet were average to good at best. MRJ was typically ordinary yet people would froth over him as though he's the 2nd coming. Banks is so meh he's holding his spot by virtue of us having our worst season ever. Green and Kaleb Smith showed nothing. Mcauliffe teased as sub then played entire games where his 90 minute output was < than his cameos as sub. Fawcetts backs stuffed. Gibcus has had 2/3 seasons totally wiped out, he might be one of those blokes who's body can't handle AFL. Clarke was in and out and sub majority of the time. I'm hoping Mcauliffe is a B grader even better an A grader who knows. Sonsies looking like a bust too.

Our best veterans are Vlastuin and Broad and both are old and gonna get pummelled next year. Lynch has played 8 games in 2 years and broken down at least 6 times. Prestia breaks down every 3rd game as does Hopper. Our future superstars aren't even at the club yet. Fingers crossed Toce doesn't blow this draft or we're screwed for 10 years.

Mate we are screwed for 20 years. I was excited for this new CEO to come in and make it look like he is taking control of ship under fire. But since his first presser where he said we don't have any 10 year goals and the reason is we are stable off the field lost me. You can't hit what doesn't exist and not coming out with authority and saying "This is what I stand for and this is what I want to achieve" is just meek.

Apathy is death and it appears that off the field, we have a decent amount of it.

Jake was a pretty good player when he played. A bit underrated in my view. He played when we were werent great and was pretty tough

You do have to remember though that with a reasonable run of injuries we could be effectively adding Lynch, Ross, M Rioli, Gibcus, a fully fit Brown, half a season more out of Hopper, and later Lefau and the other ACL recoveries Clarke and Young, Bauer, and we may see a bit of Fawcett. The coaching panel are second year effectively, new fitness boss(hopefully achieves better results) and some high calibre 18-19yo's. So it there are potentially some positive affects from those fronts.

With some luck we can replace those best players with some new or injured ones. Lynch for one, Gibcus for another. Every year new players rise faster than expected, and given most of our new players were first year players, who acquitted themselves well enough, they will be better off with a season under their belt and another preseason with added confidence. And a couple of A grade FAs leading up to the Tassie team coming in and we are loaded and ready to go.
And in that 3 year period there’ll be plenty of teams that haven’t had access to the best talent bottoming out.
It’ll be a longggg climb back for these clubs

Yeah they could hopefully bring their skill in recruiting father-sons and academy players to Richmond, that would really help them here.

Based on what Toce has been the worse performing , he has recruited well. Take away what happens on field coaching away from it he has nothing to do with.
