Is it because its trending negatively on social media the reason for its cancellation?! Seems to be the way at the moment.

Social media trend good = continue
Social media trend bad = stop.

So knee-jerk its not funny.

If we ever become a republic, we need to enshrine in a new constitution laws similar to the US regarding search and seizures and stoping people just going about their day to day business not having been suspected of a crime or it'll be "papers please" down the track. We also need a Bill of Rights.

They should have realised that is was a incredibly bad idea in the first place they shouldn't have needed social media to point it out to them.

They claimed they weren't profiling or gonna randomly stop people, so how exactly was this gonna work in your estimation?
They are just doing random visa and car checks because there are a lot of people who are working and living illegally in the country.

I think they must of tried this because of the concerns that there are people illegally entering and working in this country.
This has always, and will always continue to happen on a very small scale compared to the far, far majority of countries.

Yes, which is highly disturbing given that they said they wouldn't randomly target or profile people.

"The original announcement quoted ABF regional commander for Victoria and Tasmania Don Smith as saying officers would be positioned at various locations around the city and would speak "with any individual we cross paths with".

There is possibly about 1,000 people in jobs right now and in housing right now that shouldn't be in the country.
How do we sleep safe and sound at night?

Lol at Andrews statement just now.

He's basically saying he rolled Abbott.

With good reason.

So next time some old **** tries to bitch that Twitter and hashtags can't achieve anything, yeah.

I'd say it was the protests on the ground that really did it.
