Well, I was talking to Grant Gardiner (Vic selector) late last week. He mentioned Shippy and a couple of others in the Vic heirachy have been discussing potentially nabbing Bailey in the off-season with a lucrative offer and some other options.

Take it for what it's worth but don't be surprised if Bailey moves across the border.

That would be sad - as I rate his potential. I'm afraid SA and knob jockey Rod Marsh continually play cullen ahead of him, when I think he should be given the lead spinner berth.

Johnson wants to go to WA because of his girlfriend apparently.

Watson to NSW - let him go. It will show how little loyalty he has - going to NSW isn't going to help your cause because I don't think he would make thier best 12

Ill start it off.....

Rogers to Tasmania
Cullen Bailey to Victoria
Clint McKay to Queensland

I'd be stoked to see Rogers come to Tasmania. In the longer form of the game it's definitely our weakest link, particularly now that Diva's gone. :(
But do these rumours come from other sources or is this just you trying to start up gossip mate?
In any case, in a dream world and looking from my state's perspective, Phillip Hughes to come to Tassie as well.

He would make their best 12 on batting alone, at full strength

Apparently Bailey has said that he is not moving. When asked about his regular non-selection this season he said that he had bowled badly this season and didn't deserve to be picked. Refreshing attitude if true. This is third or fourth hand info however.

In The Advertiser yesterday there was a story about Ryan Harris possibly on the move. Says that he has been on eight one year contracts in a row and would prefer some security. (SACA...). Has been speaking to a couple of states including Qld.

Cullen Bailey will be in Adelaide next season. If he did move interstate it would be for business reasons, not cricket ones. As for the comment, I didn't hear it, but it certainly sounds like something he would say. He's a brutally honest young man, especially about himself.

As for Ryan Harris, once again I didn't see the story in the Advertiser, but apparently he has been approached by WA, and a couple of others are also showing interest. Rightly so. Harris has told the Redbacks he wants to stay, but for some silly reason they are not prepared to offer more than a one year contract, and he is looking for a 2-3 year contract.

Whereas I don't think many Redbacks deserve more than one year at this stage, Harris has certainly earned the right to a more lengthy contract. If the SACA stick to their guns and lose him, they will have even less credibility than they have now.

We cannot afford to lose our best performed player for 2007-08.

Apparently Deitz has been on ten one year contracts in a row. It's no wonder our players are so inconsistent. If they can't have any consistency in their life then it is hard to produce consistency in the middle. All of them would need to be keeping one eye on possible career moves just in case they go through a form slump and are shown the door. You can't commit 100% to your cricket if you are on a one year deal.

The only players we gave long term deals to were Blewett and Elliott at 33 years of age

Mate... all you ever talk about Cullen Bailey... How would you know about his personal ambitions outside of cricket... I bet you are a relation to him.... HAHAHA how embarrasing to think that you are his dad or his uncle defending him... What a loser you are Adelaide Hawk

Have you ever got anything constructive to say or do you just enjoy making yourself look like an idiot? Get stuffed.

I understand what you are saying, but in my line of work contracts rarely extend beyond a year. If players need to know they will be extended, all they really need to do is perform, which is pretty much what they are expected to do. People in my office can do a great job and still not be offered an extension. That's life.

Occasionally there will be a need to extend a contract beyond that time, and Ryan Harris is one such case. If there is a competitor willing to offer a better deal, and Harris is a required player, the SACA need to address it. In this case, the marketplace has dictated the trend.
