F*ckheads in left-wing governments (and some right-wing governments too) have caused this energy catastrophe that literally any idiot could’ve seen coming.

They need to be driven out, and voted out, all over the world. Aggressively.

Every western country needs a Donald Trump.

Surprise, surprise.....NOT, the biggest growth sector in Australia.

Record government spending sparks taxpayer-backed jobs boom

About half of all jobs created in the first half of this year were backed by taxpayers, bolstering record government spending, while private sector growth stalled along with the broader economy amid a crash in consumer spending.

Of the 209,000 jobs filled in the six months to June 30, about half were classified as public sector, according to Australian Bureau of Statistics. Public sector jobs usually make up about 15 per cent of the labour market, illustrating the extent to which government spending is keeping downward pressure on the unemployment rate.

Public sector jobs. Very much like what the US government does to make jobs figures look good over there.

footy4ever Have a listen it's frightening.

Dr Mindy McLeod says Uni degrees are becoming worthless...AI now writing papers/essays for students..

A University of Melbourne tutor has found that more than half her students used artificial intelligence to complete their first written assessment.

"There's a huge percentage that are not leaving [university] with any skills whatsoever," Dr Mindy MacLeod told Trevor Chappell on ABC Radio Melbourne.

"It's just been a wasted experience in all honesty."

LOL

Now we have Powercor in Victoria forewarning there is problems coming down the line...All Victorians in my region received this notice today via Powercor. What a joke.

Meanwhile it was announced there are now 130,000 Australian households on hardship payment plans yet Upgrade Albo and the dolt Cwissy Bowen saying everything is good with the Australian power supply. Cut the crap.

Diesel LOL

But gas dontcha know...More of Lefty KMc's delusion..
Feel free to find the quote where I believe Diesel is a good idea. Should only be a short term stop gap.

You love to misrepresent Mr Nuclear!

Yes that ship has sailed long ago.
If only Dutton was as keen about Nuclear when the Coalition were in power for most of a decade by having an actual energy policy, we would be much better placed now than we otherwise are...

Too little too late.

Another Australian business Seeley International Director Jon Seeley closing down their Albury factory in Victoria thanks to ALP Victoria. Said today the proposed assistance from Dan Andrews ALP Government never eventuated and with Victoria's move away from gas to electricity means their Australian manufactured gas heaters are now going to be replaced by overseas manufactured reverse cycle airconditioning units which he claims will use 5 times the energy of the gas heaters and put more pressure on the electricity grid. Another own goal by ALP Victoria.

All Pain and No Gain

The Victorian Government’s foolish and short-sighted ban on gas in new homes will only push emissions higher and increase the risk of blackouts.

Forcing people off gas causes more brown coal to be burned in our aging power stations, while increasing the strain on an already-fragile energy grid. This is an indisputable fact that this government wilfully ignores in its blind, ideological pursuit of cheap ill-informed “Green” votes.

Stop being dishonest with Victorians. Stop denying the simple science that right now, in Victorian homes, electricity from brown coal is four times more emissions intensive than natural gas.

Stop using the cover of a righteous environmental pursuit and a climate emergency, to spread mistruths and lies.

The government is driving up emissions with this decision, not reducing emissions, and throwing Victorians out of the frying pan into the fire. Less gas equals more coal.

In backing her decision today, Minister D’Ambrosio claimed the gas sector represented 17 per cent of Victoria’s emissions, but ignored the fact that residential gas (the focus of this ban) represents less than two per cent of emissions. This is a gross deception by a minister desperately trying to justify a poor policy decision. Minister D’Ambrosio has also deviously played the financial fear card, referring to the big increases in gas costs, but ignoring the even bigger increases in electricity costs, which this year alone are in excess of 20 per cent.

We all recognise the need to transition away from fossil fuels. But the transition has to be carefully managed, not rushed. And it must be done in a way that steadily reduces emissions, not drives them up as this ban undoubtedly will.

Choice for Victorians, even within your own home, appears to be a threatened species.

How galling for a morally bankrupt State Government that has run Victoria’s economy into the ground, to now dictate how people live their lives, heat their homes and cook their meals.

This dangerous ideology is not only blind to logic and commonsense, it defies trends in Europe and North America where gas, far from being banned by zealots, is being embraced with a transition to renewable gas.

Victoria just got voted the worst place in Australia to do business.

SA once again voted the best. Not bad for the state which has led the way for green energy by both ALP & Liberal governments...

While on the energy theme does anyone have an electric instant heat water heater.
I have the gas version and its excellent, but costs are rising and I'm thinking about changing.
Any comments welcome.

Australian leftist hardline Universities ho hum..

Sydney University refers ‘antisemite’ academic to NSW Police after threats were made about Jewish group and Sky News hosts – but say they can’t sack him

An academic from one of the Australia's top universities has been referred to police after posting online threats to a Jewish group and a number of Sky News hosts.

Sydney University has referred one of its own academics to police after he posted online threats about a Jewish group and Sky News Australia hosts.
But the university has said it cannot sack its casual staff member Joel Griggs because the threats were made in a “personal capacity”.

Mr Griggs has posted prolifically about Israel in recent months, often equating Zionism with Nazism.

Several tweets focus on the conservative group Australian Jewish Association and its president David Adler, including a picture of Dr Adler in August with the caption: “The AJA are (sic) a fascist terror cell… If the government isn't going to move on these dangerous psychopaths, can we maybe pull something together on Twitter? Couldn't be too hard to find out where these people live." Mr Griggs has also posted obsessively about News Corp and Sky News Australia, including replying to one X post from the Sky News account featuring host Andrew Bolt in August with the comment: “Well (sic) get you one day, you seditious, traitorous scum."

Its got nothing to do with left or right politics. universities here are far different beasts than the universities in the USA with which you are trying to link political ideology with. Clearly this guy has issues with Isreal, Jews and the war.

Are you bloody serious, Australian Universities are the left of the left...

So you reckon we should close them all down & be less educated?

More educated societies are generally more prosperous & more understanding...

Because cheating only happens at universities... NOT!

You can always find something to support your view, but doesn't mean it's the norm.

So Bicks would you shut down all universities?

That's what happens when consecutive governments at both State & Federal levels dick around with gas supplies, until things reach the point where they're all but running out.

It hasn't been helped by the LNP party's energy policy for the last decade being not to have an energy policy. Then there's the (mostly ALP) Vic Govt which knew supplies from Bass Strait were running low and did SFA to supplement them.

There's an interesting article on the Fairfax websites about how the problem came about. Unfortunately, it's stuck behind a paywall (I could read it at work, but not at home):
https://www.smh.com.au/politics/fed...option-but-to-import-gas-20241001-p5kf1o.html

Short version (from memory) - the existing gas pipeline is running at capacity, and it's not economically viable to build another given its short expected lifetime; Howard ****ed up by selling all our gas overseas, failing to account for domestic needs; Vic Govts have ****ed up by not planning for what happens when the Bass Strait fields are exhausted, noting that output has been decreasing for many years; the only viable option now is to build LNG terminals and import the gas on the back of LNG carriers.

The fact you merely made think blanket claim suggests you have not one idea or shred of evidence. Here are the facts no students live on campus meaning students have to transit in for their lectures. If you think they are going to waste time talking about how great Albo is and how to bring down Dutton instead of hitting up the uni bar or minimising their time on campus by not getting their crap done at the library or heading out for footy and cricket practice I have a bridge to sell you.

Bottom line, they arent American Universities. Its a far different beast.

Hahaha nice try lefty....The Australian power grid is in massive trouble because of the ALP/Greens headlong mad rush to renewables way way way way long before the infrastructure is available to power up Australia...if ever without a reliable firming source. batteries will never be capable of filling the shortfall so currently the fossil fuel gas is currently it. At least one lefty has common sense in NSW ALP Premier Chris Minns...just don't you dare run your dishwasher, clothes dryer etc after 3PM lest you get a blackout.

BTW how's Upgrade Albo's $275 cheaper power bills going?
