I might take a different tack, maybe a pub crawl at these specific hotels, wearing:

And you’d have every right to Petey..

Just as they would have every right to refuse you entry to their venues.

Thats real freedom in action…

Not this fake freedom bullshit the hard right attempts to force on us whereby we must all do what they want or we might hurt their precious feelings and destroy their “kulcha”..

Yeah.. best you read the article and understand it before you go using it to start pointing to it being about a failure of renewables..

Its not.

Its about a transmission cable taking longer to install than expected which is delaying all the energy currently being generated from new renewable sources around the country being delivered into SA..

Another miserable fail from TopG..
LOL

Linked to states with functioning coal fired power... Duh...

Coal power that will run at night when solar delivers nought and wind power is lower than during the day....Duh

No reason to think that they'll close - they just won't be hosting any Australia Day themed events. As far as they're concerned it's just another Sunday, the same as any other.

It's still a Public Holiday, so yes, penalty rates would still apply.

Business can decide what they want to do and if it costs them business then that is on the business owners. Pretty sure they know what they are doing.

They don’t seem to get that this isn’t a communist country.

How are we going with those nuclear power costings that were originally promised earlier in the year by the Coalition?

Yawn..

Did you think all this change from coal/gas to renewable energy/battery storage was going all happen over night at the flick of a switch dear?..

It doesnt work like that i’m afraid.. its a long term change.. could take 20/30/50 years before we get close and, yes, coal and gas will still be used throughout to help with the transition.

Please tell me you already knew that..

Transmission cables like the one mentioned in the Fin rev article are all part of the network that will help propel our new energy grid..

LOL, could you possibly have found a more biased source if you really tried?

I very much doubt you could.

Anything you disagree with is bias. How surprising!

So when you post stuff from Fox News/Sky News/Murdoch papers. No bias in those at all?

All valid questions tho in the article. Again, why won’t business build/refit these nuclear power stations?

LOL

You're as biased as Tristan Edis, just on different grounds,
Think I’d take Tristan’s word over your mate Dopey Dutton’s words.. words you’ve swallowed hook, line and sinker!

Or the uneducated nonsense of those other morons you listen to, without question, on Skynews..

I mean.. god forbid we listen to someone highly experienced and educated in the field over.. wait for it.. populist politicians and hard right wing “journalists”..

Not everyone falls for the nonsense like you do..

You do get it that they weren’t going to rename.

A bit petty.
Why not? If they think the idea of celebrating colonist Australia is divisive and not in line with their values then surely owning a pub named The Colonist would be every bit as bad

Dr. Adi Paterson is an expert, one of the foremost nuclear science experts in the World.

He'd have Tristan Edis and the CSIRO well covered when it comes to nuclear science ten fold.

Except what the company actually said was..

“Australia Day is a day that causes sadness for some members of our community, so we have decided not to specifically celebrate a day that causes hurt for some of our patrons and our team,” an Australian Venue Co spokeswoman told News Corp.”…

Nothing about “divisiveness” and “in line with values” there..

Just a comment on how much they care about all their workforce and ALL fellow members of their communities..

So… whats the fuss about?..

How will any of this affect you and your Aussie day celebrations?..

Just look at the gap that needs to be filled as coal fired power stations are closed down as illustrated in these graphs......it ain't happening and these guys are experts in nuclear unlike Bowen and the CSIRO, anyone want to take bets that the schedule of closing down coal fired power stations will be thrown out just as NSW Premier Chris Minns just anounced in NSW with the Eraring Coal Fired Power Station.

Hahahaha.. yeah.. lets fill a supposed gap with A BIGGER AND MORE EXPENSIVE GAP..

Nuclear wont happen.. its Duttons bullshit ploy to desperately try and show he has an alternative to Labor, the industry and the science…

Dutton has absolutely no intention at all of bringing an official nuclear energy policy to parliament let alone putting one into practice..

Its just more smoke and mirror bs from the hard right… designed just for people like you.

I get the feeling you think you are smarter than what you are which is clearly a simpleton.

He hasn’t been listening to what Mr Potato has said - if he does win the next election, he will go to a consultation period and then if he wins the 2028 they then proceed with legislation. So talk about kicking the can down the road.

More importantly this has to be legislated and good luck getting that thru both the HOR and then the Senate (Coalition won’t be even close to having a majority even with crossbench in the Senate). Coalition will be defending 17 seats in Senate (exc the territories) whilst the ALP will defending 11 (exc the territories).

Just to put into perspective - Coalition are defending 3 Senate seats in all mainland States plus two in Tasmania. The ALP are only defending two seats in NSW, Vic, SA, WA and Tasmania and only one in Qld. Coalition are mord than likely to lose more Senate seats.

If Australia Day causes sadness for some members of the community, then what does a pub that celebrates colonialism do?

I actually don’t really care that much mate, so it won’t affect my Australia Day, I’ll celebrate it like I always do. I was just pointing out the irony (some might say hypocrisy) of the company’s position.

You're not going to join Bearded and his pink haired gender-neutral friends in their annual flag burning ceremony.

It's a shame they closed the psychiatric hospitals.

What a business does is up to them?

They aren’t obligated to celebrate Australia Day and they have chosen not to. Its their business their call.

Again, we don’t live in an authoritarian state.

And on a personal note, I reckon Jan 1 1901 is more relevant than Jan 26 1788 will ever be.

Would you believe Australian Venue Co that owns these pubs/Restaurants/ etc venues are actually owned by an Asian Investment Fund.

Strangely this mob have plenty of other "days"..

Big Gay Day
Plant A Tree Day
Wear It Purple Day
International Woman's Day
EmpoweringOur LGBTQIA+ Community Day

LOL

That didn't take long...go woke, go broke.

Owner of 200 pubs and bars apologises for causing 'concern and confusion' by axing Australia Day celebrations

The parent company of 200 pubs and bars which axed Australia Day celebrations next year has apologised for causing "concern and confusion".
Australian Venue Co issued a statement on Instagram after news it would cancel celebrations on January 26 because the day causes "sadness" and "hurt" for patrons and staff.
The company said it was sorry for the reaction to its comments and said its venues would continue taking bookings for Australia Day.

January 1 probably is more relevant, but as Warren Mundine said, we've already got a public holiday then so it'd be pretty un-Australian to deprive us of another
