I never said who cares about matches and you know that but it doesn’t fit with your narrative, yes finishes like pins, DQ or count outs matter for finishes but the manner of pinfall is just ridiculous. Also while SUPERSHOW was a bigger show but those tickets were already sold despite the card. So why not get the payoff selling tickets to their regular shows??
I never assumed you were an insider, possibly someone who was at one point but probably booted years ago and sounding quite bitter about it really

Your points are wild. If the manner of the pinfall is ridiculous then why didn't Robbie lose to Ryder's finish? Because those things matter and protected losses are a thing in wrestling.

As for your supershow point, that one is pretty much "Why get the payoff at WrestleMania when you can get it on Monday Night Raw?" and is a ridiculous take also. Probably best to stop debating the topic, it has happened and you're making yourself look worse and worse.

Quick, I need someone to remind me how shitty/uncool/douchey/wasteful an investment in DMDU would be.

Their first international talent announcement for "Tag Team DREAM" along with their second ICW co-promotion weekend (which they announced yesterday) kind of makes me want to go to one of those shows, in spite of everything I know about the company.

I guess I could assume that any international talent will be across all 3 shows... would going to the ICW-branded show in the city on Sunday be any better? The negative is that it's in the chains, which I've never loved that much as an ICW concept.
Pondo and Patricks make you want to go.

It’s been forever since i’ve used BJW Core, can you cast it to your TV yet or does it still not have that ability?
Yes. They have it on YouTube and are slowly working backwards uploading. Very very slowly, given how big the company is

I suggest starting with The glory that is Pondo vs The NK Assassin. I haven't laughed so hard in a match in a long time. No joke people in the crowd had a North Korea flag and got it signed after!

Like Patricks and Pondo are OK. And I'm sure it's cool for a stack of people who haven't seen Pondo before. But don't expect too much.

Watching the Mayhem Mania show last night - a really good show by the way, the 2 headlining matches were both phenomenal, Erika got real good over the last couple of years - and at one point commentary mentioned the heat.

I was exiled from BF at the time, but it reminded me of how I felt at that Renegades show the next night.

I was having flashbacks to Brisbane, I had issues with public transport getting there, it was super hot and humid, the building was packed, and I'm thinking "OMG this is all the worst parts of Brisbane i HATE wrestling!!!"

Then the show finished, the weather outside was beautiful, and the tram came past 5 minutes later, and I was home 20 minutes after the show finished - leaving me to once again appreciate how friggen amazing it is going to the wrestling in Melbourne, especially on High St!

Some of these old school guys from my formative years of wrestling that I've never seen live are still a draw to me. I know Pondo can't do anything like he did 25 years ago, but I never got to see him 25 years ago.

You can 100% go, they’ll be plenty of seats…. Seriously though you can go but just know who you’re supporting and don’t complain if it’s all the complete shits I guess because you knew going in

ICW coming back after half the people on the show last time didn’t get paid, Joel Bateman is the Belle Gibson of Australian wrestling

It will be - cancelled, postponed, or change of venue. Place your bets

Ultimately that's why I didn't end up buying a ticket when I was thinking about it.

Why bother? I gave DMDU a lot of chances, which is why they're one of very few local companies that I'll shit on, and it's how I know what'll happen here. The show will get downgraded with some/all internationals other than Demanto cancelling; the central venue will be cancelled, and they'll end up running all 3 shows in the south east, or they'll end up back in a Werribee car park; the talent will be the handful of people who haven't been burnt already, or people prepared to work for a literal hot dog and a handshake.

The day will just make me sad all over again for what they had at the Arrow in those immediate post COVID shows. It was so good, it was so different, the events were such a vibe with the most diverse cast of people. I know that death match isn't for everyone, and I can appreciate that - but I really think there was/is a market for a really punk-rock/hardcore wrestling crossover, DMDU just completely stopped servicing it :(

all very valid points. please rebut "I never assumed you were an insider, possibly someone who was at one point but probably booted years ago and sounding quite bitter about it really" next to climb out of the hole you doug yourself into with this terrible discourse

If I was, still am, does it really matter? Argue the point not the person.

I wonder whether we've just completely moved beyond the era of companies trying to build social media engagement and foster community and conversation around the first run of their event.

Last week, Renegades posted their most recent show on a couple of hours notice. MCW posted Anniversary a full 24 hours earlier than advertised last night.

I don't think I like it. I think I'd prefer them to promote a debut time, and maybe try and engage with other people who are watching it at the same time... of course the question is how many people were doing that anyway?

Ricky's trunks wedgie was so much worse on the stream than I noticed on the night :(

I figure they must have the stats of how people watch and it's staggered over time.

Like I understand your point about creating excitement but I assume the choice is data driven. I just drive the good word to everyone I know. But so many of my friends are cmll or japan group + one or both usa group driven in general and will go to the mcw shows live but maybe not watch them on demand.

Live shows are always going to do better - it’s hard avoiding spoilers for an entire week when the promotions themselves post them.

for all they did wrong, I really liked when DMDU would hype up the premier dates of their early shows and would host like live reaction watch alongs.

That was excellent
