Brett Lee must not play the first test. I can't believe we are thinking about picking him because the media says so. And if Kasper gets dropped I'll be spewing, he is easily our best choice for first change spot.

Be bad luck for either Kasper or Gilly...and the sad part is, if Lee gets carted but Australia win (a real possibility), the selectors wouldn't drop him...

Leicestershire continue at over 5 an over....

0 for 135
Robinson 61
Rogers 62

Gillespie back on for Kasper....obviously don't want to overwork Lee

Looking forward to hearing eddiesmith on this...no doubt he'll become a big Leicestershire barracker...

NSW pie chuckers, Krejza, Lee, Macgill, etc :D

Interesting that Punter has not bowled the show Pony after lunch...afraid he might wear him out by bowling more than his usual ten overs a day?

Leicestershire going along nicely...0 for 202
120 for Rogers

Yes, indeed- have to like the look of him in an Aussie A team soon...Lee is bowling again....Punter must have heard my complaints....

Chris Rogers struck his maiden double ton as Leicestershire staved off defeat on the final day against Australia.

The county side faced a long day at the crease after the Aussies declared on their overnight 582-7, a lead of 365.

But Sydney-born Rogers made 209, with 32 fours and three sixes, to steer the hosts to 363-5 and keep Australia to a draw ahead of the first Ashes Test.

Stuart MacGill took 4-122, while Brett Lee leaked 40 from his first six overs before ousting Darren Robinson for 81.

Jason Gillespie responded well after conceding 37 runs in his first seven overs, recording seven maidens in figures of 0-60 from 20 overs.

Michael Kasprowicz, thought to be sparring with Gillespie for the Test team's third seamer's spot, was slightly more economical with a return of 0-57.

It was MacGill, Shane Warne's leg-spinning understudy, who did the damage with four wickets in the final session but he conceded almost six runs per over.

Rogers treated his more celebrated countrymen with disdain

Openers Rogers and Robinson profited from a little bit of luck and attacking fields in the morning, with a large proportion of boundaries coming either to third-man or through Robinson's favourite mid-wicket area.

Robinson, lbw to Lee off the first ball of the match, this time began the day by clipping the same bowler to the leg-side boundary.

He survived a Lee lbw appeal off his second ball and should have gone on eight when he mis-hooked Gillespie and was reprieved by a comical mix-up between Matthew Hayden and Simon Katich at backward point.

The pair finished the morning session within eight runs of one another out of 142.

But Rogers upped the ante, particularly when hitting MacGill over the top, adding 50 runs in the first hour after lunch - while Robinson managed nine.

With a point to prove against his native country, when Rogers went on the offensive his footwork and lofted driving down the ground off MacGill was impressive.

And his accumulation in a wider arc off the pace bowlers was equally confident and effective.

Robinson had almost ground himself to a halt, meanwhile, by the time Lee (1-78) ripped out his middle-stump with a yorker shortly before tea to end a 247-run stand for the first wicket.

John Maunders fell just after the final interval, caught for 33, and Rogers soon followed to a catch at mid-wicket as four late wickets fell for 31 runs.
