thanx mate...... didnt think dizzy and cullen would stay though

Cullen Bailey - well done to the young fella. Brilliant prospect, fully deserves his CA contact :thumbsu:

I struggle to see how SA can have 4 players with CA contracts, after another abysmal season (in which all of the ontracted players played most of the season), while Tassie has 2 players from a PC winning side (of which Ponting was not part of). Dan Cullen should definitely not have a contract, and as good as Dizzy was, and as much as I like him, he cannot possibly in the future plans of the Aus selectors, and therefore should nto receive a contract.

Considering this:
When naming the list, selectors considered form in the past 12 months, the likelihood of national selection in the next 12 months, the balance of the side and the development of the Test and one-day sides...
I can not see how he got a contract.

FWIW the breakdown of players from each state is:

Qld: 5
NSW: 7
WA: 5
Vic: 2
SA: 4
Tas: 2

Tait - Wasn't a huge part of the abysmal season, played a huge part in our World Cup victory.

Dan Cullen - Very lucky, he was very very poor. Selectors have kept the faith in him, as seasons prior he has been very good. He'll have to turn it around, or he'll be in the poop. Also a case of 'who else is there'.

Cullen Bailey - Brilliant young talent, fully deserves his CA contract. A shining light in an SA team which struggled.

Jason Gillespie - Had a great year, pretty good move to keep him there in case of injury to others.

Note all 4 SA players are bowlers, who other than Dan Cullen had a very good year.

Generally SA's problems had nothing to do with bowling. It was the batting which was a disgrace.

What state a player comes from (and that state’s overall performance) has nothing to do with the selection.

Balance of our attack is completely different now. Dizzy is a very good experienced option. His chances of playing have increased significantly with pigeon gone.

Dizzy deserved to stay.

Still relatively young, excellent career and had an excellent first class season.

Add to that McGrath retiring and Kasper being dropped of the list and there's really no reason/way to drop him from the list.

Lots of youth there now. The first time in a long time.
oh i agree - but i think we all know that dizzie is only been kept in case the s------t hits the fan

suprised that Dizzy and Cullen remained on the list. Dizzy deserves it, look at his figures, he is still bowling very well.

Cullen, well the selectors are showing faith, lets hope he can reward this. Bailey is a very promising player and Tait was a certainty.

Good news for the Redbacks because this opens up alot of salary cap they wouldnt of expected.
