Just thought i would bring to your attention that just moments ago two bombs were set off in bali with many injured and two people confirmed dead already, just wanted to show you guys that 'Football' is just a game, lets think about the reality of our current society and how cruel it can be and will be to innocent and unsecure people................ Also it would come as quite a shock for the Mebourne football palyers that are currently in the region paying tribute to the late Troy Broadbridge

JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) -- Several explosions occurred almost simultaneously Saturday in tourist areas of Bali island, causing casualties, police and a private Indonesian radio station said. A witness told the radio station at least two people were killed.

At least three blasts occurred along Jimbaran beach, which is lined with seafood restaurants commonly frequented by tourists, El Shinta radio reported. Witnesses saw at least three injured foreigners leaving the scene, the station said.

One witness told Metro TV that one of the explosions was close to the Four Seasons Hotel, which sits on the bay, and "people are still being evacuated."

Another explosion hit downtown Kuta, about 18 miles away, the radio said.

Bali police spokesman Lt. Col. Antonius Reniban confirmed that several blasts went off, but he could not say if they were bombs.

"There have been some explosions in Jimbaran and Kuta area, but we cannot give any details," he said. "Police are still investigating."

In 2002, bombings blamed on the al-Qaeda-linked militant group Jemaah Islamiyah killed 202 people, mostly foreigners, on Bali island.

Since then, the same extremist group has been tied to at least two other bombings in Indonesia, both in the capital, Jakarta.

Those blasts, one at the J.W. Marriott hotel in 2003 and the other outside the Australian Embassy in 2004, killed at least 23 people.

Western and Indonesian intelligence agencies have consistently warned that the group was plotting more attacks. Last month, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said he was especially worried the network was about to carry out more attacks.

i don't know when it will stop, when the Indonesian government decide to do something about security, you really must feel for the Baliness locals, just trying to feed their family, and now there livelihood will again be threatened as tourists stop going there..

you've got to be crazy to go to Bali nowadays, it's simply not safe...

Without trying to be too inflamatory, this ******** will stop when the 'war on terror' stops.

if only it were that simple!

the indonesian government have only themselves to blame, letting a bunch of prisoners go early as part of their independance celebrations, including the JI spiritual leader Abu Bakhir Bashea or whatever his name is...what kinda crap is that!

Good to see the usual level of stupidity re football extended to political analysis....

At the risk of stating the bleeding obvious, the bombs started BEFORE the "war on terror". I was in NY at the time.

These people want the destruction of all "infidels"... perhaps you prove their point....

PS: I don't like war and think its been handled badly but your notion is frankly simplistic and dumb ....

Cheers

Don't be naive.

Ok, when are we going to realise that we are involved in a war of theology in which one side, the muslim extremists are trying to polarise opinion, you are either with us or against us, and if you are against us, you are the enemy. And on the other hand we have just as ridiculous reactionists in Bush who demand the same loyalty and damn you if you disagree. Eventually we will have no choice but to react against the religion of Islam as a whole because we will have been driven to this situation by extremist reactionists on both sides of the "war".

they want an idealogical war, and eventually they will get it

yep agree with that 100%...eventually people are gonna stop listening to the "not all muslims are terrorists" and "islam is a peaceful religion" because they'll have no other choice....

hopefully the death toll is minimal, condolesces to those effected...

Come on guys their is an appropiate forum for this talk.

Sincerest commiserations to all effected.

its never going to stop... not in bali not anywhere, they want to make us feel that we cant go anywhere the bastards, i swear if australia gets hit it will be the last straw we will all crack, the whole terrorism thing is pointless nobody wins

so the war on terror ends...what next? do u think all the terrorists in the world will suddenly hang up their boots and live a peaceful life? doubtful, what would probably happen is theyd be ********ed off at the western world for something else, and go about trying to get it changed! it doesnt just end like that. if we keep giving in, they keep attacking, making us feel even more weak

I wouldn't even bother trying to work this one out people. This battle started well before any of you were born and will go on well after you're dead.

From all accounts, it started sometime around the crusades, I think as a direct result of the crusades.
