Ballantyne wants out - Eagles

The Reality
Ballas walks into Ross's office a month ago and says that he would like a 3 year deal in order to provide security for himself and his young family. Ross says "sorry Ballas, you need to speak with Chris Bond and Brad Lloyd about that, as I don't handle the contract negotiations around here."

Ballas then tells Colin Young that he would like a 3 year deal in order to stay with the club.

Colin Young then sends an ultimatum to Fremantle, that if Hayden Ballantyne is not offered a 3 year deal then he is prepared to go to another club that will offer him a 3 year deal. The club knows that Ballantyne at the age of 29 with his long list of injuries won't get a 3 year deal anywhere, so they offer him a 2 year deal instead. The club also knows that Hayden does not want to leave the state due to his young family and commitments to horse training and agistment with his father and uncle in Baldivis.

Colin Young then leaks to the media that Hayden Ballantyne wants to be traded to West Coast in order to get a 3 year deal, hoping that the pressure from fans of the club will force them into offering him a 3 year contract so that he stays.

Everybody except the media knows that had Hayden Ballantyne demanded a trade to the West Coast as it was reported then he would have been stood down from playing immediately.

I hate it when Geelong employees have a say in the running of our club.

Think that should be Brad. Easy mistake to make though, they're both bloody located in Victoria.

I have no idea why WC would even want Ballantyne, let alone for 3 years. He has done nothing since 2013, always injured and is the most hated player in the comp.

Dont get this pay cut stuff, if you are clogging list building there is no use with a discount. Why you want a depth player , where unproven player is cheaper and hunger for opportunity.
depends how you see it. lets use Hannath as an example. Right now Hannath is a list clogger. this time next year. Sandilands and griffin might be gone and he could potientially be our only experienced ruckman by 2018.

Hannath is a crap ruckman but he is better than nothing.

Is he better than every VFL / WAFL / SANFL / NEAFL ruckman? Is he better than players like Jack Fitzpatrick or Jarrod Witts that both clubs would give away for a packet of chips.

More than happy for Balla to leave if we can get a ok pick.
He's played some decent footy for us but never when it counted away from Subi. Falls over way too much & plays too hyper when the stakes are high.

I disagree with that. 2014 was his best year goal wise. He was a difference maker when we beat the tigers at the mcg 16.9.105 to 12.13.85. he kicked 6 goals that day.

Nah hannath is done . I think freo still consider clarke.

1 game.

If it was 1 game and in the last game of 2013 all would be forgotten, he'd probably even get his 3 year deal.

We kick to him at the exclusion of all others so it's no surprise he continues to be our most productive forward.

Taberner scores a lot more when Pav doesn't play.
And thats a weird thing. You would assumed the opposite that tabs should score more if pav is double teamed.

I know it was Brisbane, Tabs kicking 5 while tanner smith was setting them all up was pretty cool.

In a normal team that would be the case, but Freo do things differently. We don't look for when Tabs is in a 1v1 or on the lead. We kick it 25m directly infront without looking. The players know Pav will be there along with 2 defenders but they don't care about that because Ross doesn't care about that.

Ross said 3 weeks ago after the Geelong game. He thought our first qtr (the qtr we won) was poor because our entry numbers were low while the last qtr (the qtr we lost) was good because we had high number of entries. He plays a numbers game and he's happy with poor quality entries as long as we get the quantity.

Probably not but again he us better than nothing. He is basically another Griffin. An average player but better than nothing.

Are there any small forwards in the WAFL/ SANFL/VFL/NEAFL better than ballantyne?

Both Hannath and Clarke are out of contract. at worst we have to keep one.

And that is crap. So for the years of loyal service Ballantyne has given us, you will most remember him for one bad game which was a grand final? Again that is crap.

Fyfe is our only brownlow medalist. You will remember him the most for his bad game in the 2013 grand final game as well?

Do you even watch the games or just look up stats?

I think the bit about Pav is a swipe at some ex-players who have been quite keen to stick the boots into Ross. He is defending himself by saying, well the best and most loyal player the club has had rates me as a coach so basically you guys can go shove it and your opinion means jack shit.

Which players have put the boots into Ross ?
I can only think of one who became a deranged, vengeful, cheating umpire.

The team kicking to Pav instead of the best available option combined with our crumbing players being away from the fall of the ball is one of our big issues.
