That is why I put the smiley face, so you didn't think I was addressing you with the scorn I feel when you talk to me. We are on the same side here.

:) <- another smiley face

It is just unfortunate that there is no way to mute mods on here. I can only bite my tongue so much.

Imagine how bad the Test cricket team would be. At least at footy team it's bigger and you wouldn't be in each others pockets all the time. And you can at least move to a different team in footy..

Not only that but the captain in test cricket not only has a say in selection, but acts as the coach while on the field, so can decide whether or not you actually get to play. or just stand at fine leg all day.

So if you have a personal clash with the top player (as many players did with Michael Clarke), it can mean the end of your career. Since unlike the AFL, you can't be traded to another test team.

Maybe the end of your test career, but if you're good enough to make a test side, you're probably good enough for 2020 cricket.

Obviously, but test cricket is considered the pinnacle of the sport. The exact situation above did actually lead to the end of Simon Katich's and Michael Hussey's careers, and there's a few other players I can think of who've not played nearly as many tests as they did because of personality clashes. (Brad Hodge and Steve O'Keefe for example). The biggest issue really is that there's only 1 team.

Hussey kept making a lot of money out of the IPL for years after retiring from test level. I don't think not making the test side is the bugbear it once was, when you can make half a million bucks off a month's work playing three-hour cricket. Anyway, this is a digression.

Surely Ballas will just take the two years from us, I don't see us getting much from him. Hopeful thinking to get a good player swap from WCE.

Add Michael Slater to that list and another Test captain who was railroaded by hero players at the end off their career with the assistance of former players, is Kim Hughes.
