Hi all,

Putting together my supercoach team, and at their respective prices Barlow, Bird and Jack all look to be reasonable value. But I just dont pay enough attention to other teams developing players to get a fix on where there at.

Are they all likely to be regular first teamers? I imagine Barlow will be, with the other two fading in and out...

If you could take only one, who would it be?

Thanks for any feedback...good to see some quality young kids coming through the Sydney list.

Barlow is going to be a good player. Jack will be a very dependable player and Bird will be a superstar. Its hard to tell you how much they will play though. Almost every Swans fan wants all 3 playing in the first round but what we want and what Paul Roos will do are two completely different things.

Either Jack or Bird will be good and I believe they will both get to play a fair amount in the seniors but for mine, I'd go for Bird. He was in our best 3 on Sunday, outshone a few of the seniors that actually played. I really feel Bird will be a regular in our senior team very soon into the season. :thumbsu:

You would have to say that Bird would get his chance ahead of Jack. Jack is primiarily a tagger and we already have about 6 of those in our team. Bird on the other hand is a hard nut who wins his own ball, like Kirk.

I hope the young blokes get consecutive games this year.Last season I chose a couple of young Swannies who had shown promise and they hardly got a run.I couldn't trade three of them so I was left with a couple of "duds".This year I will be only taking one youngster.

i thought the same of jack til i saw him on sunday, he did some quite spectacular things and showed he had some real attacking skills as well as his strong defence
barlow was only fair sunday, but is proven (of the three) and will keep getting better
but i've already got bird in my first-draft supercoach team, i think he WILL play in round 1 as the first step in a long, illustrious career
the bloke is a gun, brett kirk loves him and i think all swans fans will soon see why

I'm in a similiar competition to Dreamteam/Supercoach, but it places more emphasis on the midfielders rather than the big guys in terms of scoring. Anyway, with my last pick, I was wondering who would be better value - who would play more games this year - Ryan Brabazon or Brett Meredith?

Cheers. :)

Same here. Bargain pick up IMO.

I'd be looking elsewhere. Roos won't play either of them early. Meredith will have to play exceptionally well in the reserves to get a senior look-in ahead of lots of other smaller players. And I don't expect Brabazon to play any senior footy.

thanks guys...Bird it is

Yeah he does look pretty good, I like the comparison to Captain Kirk, thats quite a compliment. I hope Roos has the gump to get his kids playing reasonable reguarly for once.

There is also Luke Brennan (still) sitting on the sidelines as well.

Noones really mentioned Barlow in this thread yet, and what his chances might be of breaking into the best 22. I was watching a game from about Round 20 last year and he really looked pretty good, very hard at it, reasonable delivery and got lots of it. Looked like another Craig Bolton (not just in appearance). Any thoughts on him?

From what i can gather Barlow is very much a confidence player. When he believes in himself he is very good but when he doesnt have faith in his own ability he struggles. I expect Barlow to play atleast 10 matches this year and i can see him in the best 22 in 2009.

I got $10 on Bird for the raising star. Hope he gets plenty of games, looks like a gun.

Got on him @ $150

Geez, they're massive odds...??!!!
I think I'll put a bit on him as well, but he'll have stiff competition with Dempsey & Jetta to contend with..:D

Btw, where did you see them Rising Star odds on ?? I went on TAB Sportsbet and they didn't have it I noticed....

Rising Star betting is on Sportsbet (not the TAB). You missed the bus, Bird has firmed to 50/1.

I almost swear that I saw the Rising Star award odds about a month or two ago on TABSportsbet, but I don't think Bird will win it now thinking about it, Roos doesn't particularly like the idea of blooding new players...

roos has actually been quoted in recent days giving a pretty big hint that bird has forced himself right into calculations for round 1, and i think barring unforeseen circumstances he'll be selected
as for barlow, he finished last season in our best 22 and if you're making changes to that 22, there'd be 5-6 ahead of barlow for the axe
jack has some hope, going on his obvious fitness and good preseason form, but i am confident barlow and bird will be in our round 1 side

Re: E.Barlow & C.Bird.....

E.Barlow & C.Bird.....

Hey guys,

Barlow and Bird have been impressive during the pre-season, do you think they will be consistent performers this season?

Dear Faith, this information is available on the thread

I hope that you find it useful.

Dear Moderators

In a loving caring sort of way can we get rid of this thread and "educate" visiting supporters from other clubs who could potentially clog up our board by starting threads (possibly to help them with their supercoach/dreamteams) when such threads already exist.

i.e should they not look around on our board first before posting new threads?

Apologies if I am not being loving and caring enough
