Barlow broken leg

lol, and this is why I hate dream team, etc. Somehow this becomes a concern. Never mind that the poor guys newly revived career how been stalled once again, it's all about the DT points.

No, no, its about fremantle seasons hopes...just ask Notorious_29 who gets very angry at people worried about dream teams

Would be a massive shame if his season was ended.

What exactly happened?

barlow running with the flight to mark Jordan Lewis style while Palmer slides in to mark it low down fom the oppositite direction. Barlows leg gets caught between the ground and Palmer and breaks just below the knee. You could see it bend pretty far.

Barlow then grabs his leg for a second and gets up to take his kick. As soon as he puts any weight on it it bends like its made of rubber. Pretty unlucky for the guy.

I am shattered, the crowd just went completely quiet and it was the most surreal thing I have ever seen at the football before.

This is the worst I have ever felt after a game. Win or loss.

You could see on the replay before he stood up he felt for the leg. Must have just been praying he could run it out or something. Then when he stood up he just collapsed. Just can't believe it.

I wish he didn't try to stand up. I can't get that image out of my head

I saw the initial impact, and when he tried to stand up, turned away, so I just missed it - thankfully. Still felt sick though.

Was a terrible injury, the poor bloke deserves a bit of luck after the work he's done to get there :(

Hopefully it's a clean break without too much collateral damage.

:(

I haven't seen a replay because I didn't watch the useless screens at Subi, but all the talk in this thread makes me even more devastated. Knew he had broken a leg or done a knee, but didn't know it was N.Brown-esque.

For those blaming Palmer, I'm not sure what range of action you could see on TV ... but Pav lobbed the ball right in between the two with Palmer leading forward for it ... Palmer and Barlow sort of looked at each other not knowing who should go for it ... a split second of hesitation in identifying whose ball it was, and they kind of both just went because that's just how they play ... they'll go for it rather than pike out. Just like Fyfe and Roberton earlier in the game. What a f*&%ing tragedy.

Just saw it on the news and felt sick, such a good season down the drain and in junk time too. Set yourself for next season mate and make sure the leg is 100% before you do, don't want to see you limp through the rest of your career ala nathan brown, barry stoneham, etc

Awful. My day has been ruined you never want to see something like that.
Hope he comes back better and stronger for it. Was on track for a record breaking season too.

From the tv it seemed like it was barlows ball, maybe the sun in palmers eyes confused him as to whether it was a team mate or not. Commitment from both was great, but I just feel Palmer was never really a chance to get it. I feel for you as you've lost a great player today an have copped a large number of injuries in one day

Life is a bitch sometimes!!!!

Very sad for the guy, to be cut down so cruelly after working so hard to get on an AFL list, then really making a significant impact must be shattering for the poor bloke.

Wishing him a speedy and full recovery!! :thumbsu:

Blaming Palmer is a bit unfair. If it didn't end like this half the footy world would be saying what great courage those Freo young players have, and how good are they are etc. It's just bad luck.

Having said that, it was well and truly junk time and I don't think anybody would have even noticed if Palmer pulled out ... s$#t how I wish he did :(

The kick should have gone to Palmer, he was on his own inside 50. He had a good reason to expect to be the target for that kick. The kick dropped in short in between the two. I can't attach any of the blame to Palmer. It is just bad luck.

You're always meant to call the player in front of you back to take the grab. Palmer should have stood his ground so it was an avoidable incident. I'm sure he feels shocking at the moment.
