I agree, he may have added something, but was as likely to revert back to his usual stock ball of shortballs and half volleys and trying to just ball as fast as possible rather then bowling properly.

Exactly what I was saying. If you seriously think he was going to bowl in the right areas for most of the game you're heavily deluded. He's teased and gone back to his old ways all through his career. I thought after the 2003 world cup when he was dynamite and was swinging the ball from the word go at over 150k consistently that it was the turning point for him, but as usual he went back to his short and wide shit and was all upset on why he was getting belted around

Its amazing how so many people become experts when the Ashes come around isn't it.
If the rest of our side played like Kat did this summer we wouldn't have lost. He is all about the team

I just don't like him. Haven't done since he was our ODI opener for 18-24 months when he was keeping Haydos out of the side. He irritated me because he batted so slowly, virtually nullifying all the work Gilchrist was doing.

was OK against SA nothing flash.

Probably in the side because of lack of options and good domestic form.

FFS, we're having a discussion about Lee's worth to the team. Obviously being a discussion, people will agree and disagree. FWIW, i've been watching cricket religiously since the mid eighties (or when i can remember). Im sure everyone else here who loves the game has similar claims.

Im talking about some people digging into Katich as a selfish player, considering this summer he was just about the only batsmen that dug in and really valued his wicket.
Can't wait till 7.30 though

Less than 50 against SA and India once you take WI & NZ out, amazing what you can do with statistics.

He bats way too slow, a similar styled batsman in Langer found a way to adapt to the situation required (defence or attack), Katich always bats slow putting pressure on the rest of the lineup.

I still hopes he averages a 100 this series as beating the poms is all that matters.

he made astack of runs against West indies too.
katich's value is his reliability these days. This guys values his wicket & that is a huge part of building big scores.
In 2005 the Aussies did not respect the Pom bowlers enough. They expected that if they attcked at all costs the poms would cave in.
The Poms bowlers had big hearts in that series & they fought instead of caving. Someone like Katich will help steady the team if Hughes & Ponting attack everything & fail.
I like the combination of the steady katich & an attacking hughes. That may may make it hard for England to get rythm if these two get going.

If you find him boring stick to 20/20.
Its a test match, it goes for 5 days, nothing wrong with his S/R

personally I never rated Symonds either. As a number 6 for tests he was never good enough & they didn't bowl him enough to warrant him as a true allrounder.
As a One day cricketer he was a gun.
I would have preferred Hodge or North at 6 while Symonds was there.

Got to look to the future, is there a better way to blood a new batsman than in a tough series(Hughes in SA as an example), Hussey has lost his mojo.

As a One day cricketer he was a gun.
I would have preferred Hodge or North at 6 while Symonds was there.

Symmo provides an X factor and saves runs in the field.

I think Symmo @6 would worry the poms more than North.
