6 state teams and H&A for each = 10 games. Much more reasonable season length than 14 games each. Talent spread 22 players less thin. 3 international players per team makes it a bonafide T20 competition to compete for quality with any T20 comp bar IPL. Revamp finals for 1v2 (winner straight to final), loser plays winner of 3v4. Gives top 2 teams the double chance.
1 home game to be played out of major metro area.

I feel BBL 04, 05, 06, 07 were building nicely, and the pressures of interfering with the Shield team when the test side is poor as well as a long season that has far too much international player movement and too many youngsters, along with average pitches, and mildly less % tv coverage (same number of games but a few are missed) is overall affecting it. Can't really 'rebuild' when you don't have a big set fanbase to carry on waiting for the good times - some of the AFL teams struggle in times of rebuilding with decades of fanbases to build on...

I'm going to my first Scorchers game tonight since BBL01 (or 02, can't remember, I know Luke Ronchi was playing). Mainly because a mate randomly asked if I wanted to go. I've watched maybe 5 games so far, my interest just isn't there this season. #scorchers #fairweatherfan

You picked the one season the Scorchers are ordinary to go to a game.

Willey was meant to join the England ODI squad in the West Indies after the Big Bash. I’m only making assumptions but it sounds sus being asked to head back home.

You couldn’t really ask for a closer tournament this year in the bbl

Every team could still play finals

Shame that hasn’t converted into popularity

The ladder is close but people generally watch the BBL for entertainment. The games have not been close or high scoring therefore not entertaining, what the casual fans want. There wouldn't be too many tuning in to a Renegades vs Thunder game barracking for the Gades to bowl the Thunder out for 70 and knocking them off in the powerplay.

No big names in the competition, too many games, and if it is not high scoring it is very boring
The issue has been more if its not high scoring, it is very one sided and therefore very boring. Low scoring games can be good contests if both sides are struggling to middle it (same goes for Tests)

But so far this BBL it has been one team struggle to a 130 type score, and then once the other team is 0/50 after the powerplay, the energy dies out pretty quickly.

Agree on your point about big names. One of the fox commentators mentioned Dhoni being available next Big Bash. Surely the Indians aren't going to let their players participate in non IPL T20 comps ?

Thing is there is literally no incentive for the Indians to play the BBL. Doesn’t pay that well compared to the IPL and the Indian schedule is that packed that if they’re not touring anywhere surely the players enjoy a small break.

Retired players and domestic-only players don't have that problem.

But the BCCI won't let them play.

But don’t people want the Indians playing to create interest? Can’t see a bloke no one has heard of doing that. Retired players might be a different story.

Not sure why A) The Strikers even play Liam O'Connor, and B) Why they would have him in the squad ahead of local leg spinner Lloyd Pope.
It's kinda like the Scorchers picking Bosisto over Philippe.

and yes i know that Bosisto is from WA as well.
