Dad would probably have been SA’s first choice keeper for a long time in the apartheid era and was later a coach but a fairly prickly character from memory
He took over RSA at a tricky time when the selectors went crazy by dropping Boucher for Tsolekile which backfired spectacularly as England won there for the first time since readmission. I seem to remember Hoggard having a good tour. Then in the ODIs KP hit 3? tons in the face of very hostile crowds.

If Mac Harvey is to stay in the team he needs to play like a Wells or Bevan like finisher. Not go for the big shots like Evans just did, it should be a simple run a ball.

41 required from 56. And they are still going for slashes and swipes across the line.

The modern batsman is a ****wit.
Probably one for the things that annoy you thread but I hate it when I hear the line "There's one with your name on it so you may as well just go for it" as if it just gives batsmen a free pass for a brain fade.

Absolute ****ing morons.

The only way you can lose the game is to lose wickets. So let’s lose wickets.

The Renegades are a completely brainless organisation, and the only reason they’ve ever won one of these comps is because they played against their cross-town rivals who are an even more brainless organisation.

Perth and Sydney must just laugh when they see a trip to Melbourne. If the toss went the other way Perth would’ve won this by 8-9 wickets.

Just not as good as Lyon.
His Trent Bridge 98 as a 19 year old batting at 11 is one of the funniest innings of all time though

At the time i was in pretty regular contact with Skull and had another pretty good man in the Vic system. Skull told me Agar was going to tour England and would play the 1st Test months out

Seems incredible that Agar played that test at Sydney a few years back.

A wasted career or just never that good in the first place?
He’s averaged 41.5 at first class level. Probably lucky to be given a go at test level given how unthreatening he looks in the longer form.

He goes well in t20’s as the batters have to take him on and he can be difficult to score quickly off.

Amazing foresight! I was just reading your other post about taking him from the airport to your club for a night. He used to watch tons of cricket- a bit like Terry Wallace in football. Still going strong at 75.
