Ben Cousins Carreer Should Continue After More Treatment!!

Ben Cousins will not play AFL again. This is not because the AFL is against drugs or drug use. The AFL is equivocal at best about drug use.

The reason why Ben will not play football again is that time and time again he has damaged the brand of AFL and the AFL will make an example out of him.

I'm sure drug use was/is more rife than the reported examples and I'm sure alcohol abuse is also rife but all the other people don't get caught in compromising situations like Ben does.

The AFL is not and never has been about taking a principled stand on anything. The AFL however is a reactionary organisation because it only punishes those who are caught out in compromising situations because then the soccer mums will take their kids away from football.

Wont someone think of the CHILDREN???? cue... The AFL :thumbsu:

EAGLES must use their brains here.

BEN COUSINS MUST NOT BE SACKED

BEN COUSINS is still in REHAB.

The statistics show that even after treatment form these super drug rehabilitation centres, many relapse.

Cousins has had enough emotional trauma just late for him to relapse.

Has the world lost its common sense. Have people decided to be mentally slack and make stupid assesments.

It is obvious that Ben Cousins needs psychological help. What he is doing is non-sensical - but under extreme duress.
This must be completely an issue with the EAGLES and BEN COUSINS alone.

Can't people see that!!!!!!!!!.

WHere has the ability to think carefully gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:D:D:D

Everyone at work was wondering why I just burst out laughing then

Problem is I don't really believe he wants to get clean. He enjoys the rock 'n' roll lifestyle he has lead for the last ten years and has no intention of really giving it up.

He was caught out last year and was sent to rehab. He would not have gone on his own accord, he was basically forced into it by family, club and AFL. He did this only to check all the boxes necessary to enable him to play footy again... he never thought he had a problem.

He's played everyone for fools. His behaviour has been consistent throughout his entire footy career and he needs to go.

A lot of people put their necks on the line for him and he has betrayed them... flipped them the metaphorical bird. Didn't deserve another chance at the beginning of the year, definitely doesn't deserve one now.

Maybe losing something he loves and losing his large income will turn him around. Don't hold your breath though... his selfishness and sociopathic behaviour will win out in the end.

The game is better off without Ben playing.

I agree with what you said and I also don’t think he believes that he has a problem. The step of overcoming any addiction is to admit you have a problem and I think he still had not admitted that.

Yet he has owned up to his behaviour and publicly said he has a problem but does he seriously believe it or is it just an act to shut everyone up.

he will never play AFL again and rightly so
he is a cancer on the footy club, and the AFL

Never say never – I can see the AFL deregistering him for a set period of time (a lot longer than 12 weeks) and in this time he will have to get some serious help and psychological counselling.

I hope the AFL set some sort of precedent to allow the WCE to keep him on their books as a player (long term injury or rookie list him) because they have a duty of care to help him over come any problem that the system may have created.

Being 29 he had maximum 5 years left; take the next 12 - 18 months away because of the time he will be deregistered and he may never come back but he has to be given the opportunity.

The AFL/ WCE cannot wash there hands with Ben Cousins because if something bad happens to him they will have blood on their hands.

I only hope that West Coast help him financially with his addiction purely because our tax dollars could go on something better than looking after another egomaniac drug taker. Nobody forced the drugs on him in the first place.

His choice; his bed.

If he is found guilty of breaching the AFL's rules and subsequently cops a suspension then I would imagine he is still young enough to serve a period out of the game and still make a comeback. He would be awfully tempting at number 85 in the draft once rehabilitated.

Of course he'll play on.

West Coast embrace the party boy.

Who cares what impact it has on the club, team mates, young fans and the league as long as he has a good time.

I wont 'hang' him until I have all the facts. Thats just me, I never assume anything. Admittedly, it looks pretty bad though.

His biggest hurdle against fully rehabilitating himself is the company he keeps. Lie with dogs, and you're gonna get fleas, nothing surer.

I'd say he's gone...

Problem is, for his adult life, he's never known anything else. Not everyone carries the maturity of Hird. Many 29 yo's behave like w***ers, but not all have had a virtual 12 year backing from a large organisation, just because they play great football.

He was never punished the first time around, the Eagles seemed keen to get him back playing, delaying that should have been part of the punishment. When he thought he was ready, that was the time to say 'prove it', we'll continue to help you, but it's A1 behavior from now, right through to the start of 2008, then you can play.

good point...I think the Eagles should reinstate him, get penalised 16pts for next season, lose their first two draft picks for both drafts and finish a respectable 9th next season...
