Re: Is Cousins honestly the only problem?

Its a shame to see someone like Cousins be in another drug bust man. He is a great player but i cannot see him doing well in the future....he IS the problem.

So at this stage hes been arrested for traffic offences and having viagra without a prescription..... Umm okay. No wonder why he was laughing

Seriously I feel for you WC supporters. Many have stood by him - and he stuffs up once again......I know I'd be devastated if a Carlton player was always getting in these situations.

Congrats to those of you calling for his sacking - because the club has to say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

Fair call:thumbsu:

From afar, the impression I got of Cousins was that he thought he was superman, above everyone else.
I wonder if this attitude is what has ultimately caught him out.

Sad day for you Weagles fans:(

Re: Ahhhhhh!!

Yes I understand Cousins is the problem (Im not f***en stupid:rolleyes:) but all these threads about the club is ridiciulous, like "Should West Coast be thrown out of the AFL?" and "Strip WCE of 2006 Flag" and crap like that

Re: Ahhhhhh!!

FOR F*** SAKES!!!! This whole thing is ridiculously F***en stupid and after reading some of the F****en ******ed threads on the, wait for it 'Hot Top- Ben Cousins' sub forum over at the main board I feel Im going to go INSANE!!!! F**** me (not literally ) I cant believe the amount of moron, low lifes, idiots, scum of the earth, F***wits that find this funny and so on is just F****en annoying me! Just wish they would have some sort of brain before they post such F****en crap, but then again cant except to have too have many intelligent people on this forums!

They can all go and get F****ed!!

Sorry about all the swearing but grrrrrrrr!

are you referring to chick, cuz and kerr??

Man o' Man.

What a WASTE a tremendous WASTE.

Poor Ben is so deep into his addiction that he cannot rid himself of the substances that are keeping him away from the thing he loves most: Footy.

After all the effort he and the club (esp. the Club) put into his rehabilitation... to throw that all away is very dissapointing.

Ben's foolish actions have hurt the club in the worst possible way; the sad part is that he has bought us so much joy with his skill and character.

I dont think we will see Ben on field again :( , there really is no chance.

As for SANCTIONS: there is now way in hell that the AFL could seriously sanction the club for Ben's behaviour. The club has taken great strides to clean the players up ... and obviously Ben has become a very special case with his illness.

As for the club: WCE, the fans, players and admin have great resolve. The strength of our club means that unlike other teams, the Blue and Gold will not crumble ... but come out stronger than ever:

The fact that we were in a GF only 3 years after joining the AFL
1994 premiership
The great comebacks of 2006
2006 (after losing the GF 2005)
Rnd 1. 2007
Bens comeback against Sydney

CARN THE EAGLES!

there just hasn't been any remorse, from ben,
after everthing that has happened,
all the chances that he has been given, what are the eagles supposed to do?
they just can't continue to support him,he has to realise this!

he has to take responsability for his actions

I know nothing of Cousins' situation, so I cannot comment on that.

What I can, and will say, is that the supporters of an excellent club like the Eagles deserve so much more from their idols, than to be dragged through the mud.

Like it or not, players that are on huge wages have huge responsibilities.

viagra isn't prohibited in Australia...

the fact that he failed to give a blood test is far more serious...it suggests he was driving under the influence of something illegal as he blew 0 on the alcohol test.

It is illegal to possess prescription drugs that you do not have a prescription for mate.

Therefore it is prohibited for everyone without a prescription.

I don't think there has been any remorse because deep down inside I don't think Ben sees any problem with it. I speculate that Ben feels that the drug taking is not affecting the way he plays football, which is what he is payed to do, so he doesn't see any real reason why he has to give up. I also speculate from his body language that he doesn't believe he should be sorry or should apologize for anything and any such apologies are forced.
In a way, I can understand that. I'm going to be totally honest here and say I couldn't care less if Ben Cousins takes drugs or not, he can do whatever he likes for all I care. I appreciate and see him as a champion footballer and entertainer and as long as he continues to be that (which he does) I couldn't care less. If it was up to me I would certainly still have him in my side. I have never seen footballers as role models and would never encourage my kids to be like one (to play like them yes).
Unfortunately not everyone will agree with me especially the AFL, who are obsessed with footballers being role models, which I can also understand as their concern is the long term success of the code in a crowded sports market.

So Ben, if it was up to me, you would certainly be playing for the West Coast Eagles next year, but it's not. So thanks for the memories, you were a champion player and look after yourself.

Re: Is Cousins honestly the only problem?

Is Ben Cousins really the only problem at our club? I'm sick of this and feel like sh** because I thought he was over it, but after really thinking I think our clubs issue extracts much further than Ben.
I dont like to believe rumours but after hearing Kerr reports, hearing stories from close friends and eagles and after personal experiences myself with eagles I can only express my concern that there is a real issue at our club and something really has to be done.

Cousins is not the only problem at your club and Kerr is the other bad apple along with Chick, Gardiner who have gone. If BC is proven guilty, this is the time to cut him as he has betrayed the legions of supporters and people who have stood by him. He will offend again. Get rid of the other problem Kerr as well, then you guys can start fresh as you still have a great young squad to build on with out the ongoing problems. Hope you do not loose draft picks as a result.

The AFL has to take some responsibility with its weak stance on drugs and lack of real testing and allowing these ratbags to discredit the game and supporters.

Many in the east still believe Juddy and Rowan Jones quit as a result of the on drug problems at the club. Mainy was a real sad loss.

couldn't agree more with you mate!!!i think the club will do everything in their power to keep him.. but know they are pressured to sack him..

he just keeps letting us all down.. im sick of sticking up for him against my mates and telling them to watch how much he will change and he will kill it next year etc etc...

deep down i just don't want to let him go.. actually i don't think i can..

Does anybody know exactly what Cousins has been charged with? A traffic offence for refusing to give a blood sample and possesing a prescription drug - is that all we know at this stage? Wonder when we will find out what the drug is? I think there is 99% chance cousins is gone no matter what but it kind of hinges on what the drug is.

There will be no penalty from the AFL or else they will have to apply the same penalty to every club in the comp who has a player on their list test positive to a rec drug. That would be all 16 clubs IMO. they can't punish the eagles and nobody else. Legally i don't think they would have a leg to stand on and they know it would end up in the courts and get messy. They will just put as much pressure as possible on the eagles to sack cousins if the eagles don't make the decison first.

I think the AFL have a specific/special agreement with the West Coast Eagles which was put in place with the WCE when they were called to AFL head quarters early on in the year. From memory any more "player conduct" issues from them will result in sanctions/loss of draft picks etc.

I could be wrong though.

possession of a PROHIBITED drug...the drug is being tested so its fairly obvious that its an illegal one of the illicit nature. If it were a prescription drug then I'm sure the police would've made mention of that fact...

failure to give a blood sample for testing, this equals being guilty of a DUI which will see him lose his MDL for a period of time

I think that was just posturing from the AFL for the benefit of the melbourne media. They will say that losing Cousins is punishment enough especially after losing Judd also. Any the penalty the AFL tries to apply would have to be able to survive being tested in the courts and they AFL can't argue that it's OK to punish one club for drug use among players but not all the others. Especially since their very slack drug policy doesn't give the eagles or other clubs the right to do their own testing of players etc without the players permission. There will be no penalty.

Arrrrgh. It's VERY unlikely to be just viagra but i wish people would stop saying this - it's untrue.
Possession of any prescription drug without a script is a serious offence and thus is prohibited in WA.
