You'd think it would be at least 50k wouldn't you? Bevo should be able to tell us
Yea let’s talk about what a coach earns who came to the league as a premiership player and norm smith medalist.

Who cares it’s for him to know an it’s no one else business. Safe to say with the current raffles the club has and financial situation at the club, $ isn’t really an issue. If they pay him 200k good on him.

When the club holds their presentation night at Crown Casino and pays for all in attendance. Not sure they are really in a position to needing to be worried about finances.

Why wouldn't they support local sponsors? Or are they sponsored by crown, it's not like there's nowhere to go in Kyneton and surrounds.

If you apply for a job, pretty sure most come with a price range, it's not 1950. You're right though Kyneton can pay him whatever they like, and it's out of the cap, chappy was a super player, pretty sure that there's being plenty of discussions in regards to what players and coaches get paid on big footy over time or in a pub. Just remember Kyneton have been just in financial trouble, not sure spending up big at crown in responsible and sustainable financially bevo

So you said for what they pay Chapman he should be a McGuane type of coach then you tell us you guess he’d be on $50k so you either know or you don’t for what it’s worth McGuane is on near enough to twice that at keilor but it’s basically his full time job unlike the majority of other local coaches he doesn’t work plus he gets a house through sponsors so he puts the work in that his remuneration deserves.
In my opinion you can look at it 2 ways with Kyneton they are getting ahead of themselves and spending to much on something like going the crown for a presentation night or you can go the other way and say they’ve come a long way since being with no senior team and good on them for enjoying themselves. Gisborne have had most presentation nights over the past 10 years in Melbourne and some at crown and people I know that have been to them rave about how good they are creates a good look and helps to retain and attract both footballers and netballers.
Seems to be a lot of chat about country clubs of late what’s happening with Bendigo clubs any news around the traps about recruits or departures?

All local Sponsors were in attendance at couldn’t have talk more highly of the night, being able to have a night out with the club that love and support through thick and thin.

Not sure why we keep reffering to the financial issues of the past, not one of committee is still on the board.
Imagine every business only talked about the past failures

Mcguane also does a fair bit of work with junior sides, coaches one, hes worth every cent. He's record wherever he coaches is first rate and Keilor is one of the best clubs in the state now. And we are seeing chalkys great mate Stevie J looking like doing a similar setup in Yarra, get well paid, German coached at corowa, Lamont at mooroopna, knight Morwell, I have no problem with it, coaches well paid.

Let's hope that Kyneton have a good year, I think they'll get 7th.

Spot on about McGuane and that’s my point he’s a full time coach where Chapman isn’t so you can’t expect Chapman to do a McGuane type of job that’s unless he’s being paid in a similar pay range but despite Kyneton being financially sound I’d doubt it.
I hope they have a good year as well but it’s impossible to predict for them or a lot of other teams given we don’t know the full ins and outs until the season starts because of that stupid new system now that means we can’t see clearances

Very excessive spending if true! Crazy considering where they came, spend it on facilities, or gear or something u may get a a return on. But yeah their business what they spend it on I guess, albeit years of non performance shows where Kyneton is at.

My understanding is that the cost of the presentation night was covered by a generous benefactor

You’re 100% spot on. A sponsor added it too their major sponsor at the end of the year as a little extra for the club they love.

Ask one person who walked away from that night life members, sponsors, parents of juniors, players, volunteers who didn’t have an unreal night.

The Gisborne folk had an unreal night on Grand Final night, probably the difference between the two clubs I guess.
Seems the Tiges will still be vying for a five spot but with the losses will probably struggle to get there again in 23.
If a football club cannot have 'an unreal night' after winning a premiership, (especially over a team which gave them a sound beating a fortnight before) then they will never have one.
Agree Humphrey it will be tough for Kyneton to make the finals. Sandhurst and Eaglehawk will be stronger and South somewhere around the same level. Having said that, they were not far of the mark last year and if they do get there in 2023 it will be a massive boost for the competition. A finals match against Gisborne would pack the QEO. Love to see it.

they have some ground to make up, bot tiges v Gisdogs games last season were floggings, but yeah I’m with ya, a packed QEO is a great sight and would be fantastic.

I’m sure they did and fully deserved they also had presentation nights in Melbourne a few years back when they hardly won a game I just don’t get how a club like Kyneton who have fought back from the brink of extinction are bagged for being financially sound through good management and are on the improve on the field do we want them continuing on that trajectory or back in the doldrums anyway each to their own and time will tell how they go this year once the season starts and we see the full extent of their ins and outs which we don’t know much about yet so can’t really form an opinion.
Anyway enough of them for a while who’s got some fresh news on other club’s particularly the Bendigo clubs things have been quiet on here in that regard of late.

Does anyone know what AFL CV staff do at this time of year?

Not a heap of administration work from season end to closer to the season, the draw only needs so much work.

Do they accrue leave in season for working weekends etc and take time off or are they all just playing office cricket all day?

As much as we may think they play office cricket they are busy at this time of year, especially with clearances soon to open. Lots of logistical things to be done as well including organising gear, umpires, footballs etc. As much as we do criticise, the team at AFL CV do work hard and generally are pretty good to work with as it can be a thankless task at times.

in regards to leave they generally take leave over the Christmas and New Year as no leave is supported during the football season.

Clearances don't open until Feb and Clubs submit & respond to them. Players also do Registrations online themselves.

Here is the solution to the issues in central Vic

Bendigo league only want bendigo teams so let them have it - add maiden gully and Huntly / maybe Rochester in time so they have 1 regional club

Central Vic comp - 2 divisions possibly 3 if you include clubs from Maryborough/ Castlemaine comp in the area

Sunbury
Gisborne
Baccus marsh
Melton
Kyneton
Castlemaine
Macedon
Woodend
Romsey
Lancefield
Diggers
Wallan
Kilmore
Riddell
Gisborne giants
Darley
Melton south

This is the only way forward

Yeah those Melton clubs, Sunbury and the Bacchus Marsh clubs won’t be going anywhere mate!

I believe that Marist College will join the AGSV from 2024, provide boarding options and play games on a Wednesday. School football has precedence over NAB duties. The facilities at Marist will be elite as will the program that will be offered. This is a brilliant initiative. AGSV football is very strong with the likes of Assumption College, Marcellin, Trinity etc. St Pat's are entering the ACC which whilst not as strong as AGSV is a better standard than the comp they are in at present. IMO, the NAB league is no longer going to be the major junior competition.

Sorry mate but that is one of the most ridiculous statements I have ever seen on a forum!!! NAB League no longer going to be the major junior competition??? Do you have any idea how much money is invested in NAB league football, and the pathways leading into it. AND, the amount of people it employs??

Stay in your lane mate, you clearly haven’t a whiff of a clue
