The reality is his value as a footballer is a 6 point player, so you are getting a 5 point discount which is huge.
Obviously we want to encourage loyalty and guys to return to junior clubs but that is way out of whack for me. You wouldn’t see the AFL say the Daicos boys are so ingrained in Pieland that we are only going to count 10% of their wage in the salary cap.
The points system needs a review and the discounts need to be redone. Perhaps a one point discount per five years of service or a cap on the amount of points able be discounted for either individual or team.
