2pts it is if staying in the BFNL

A Few years back when Sea Lake recruited the Donnan brothers and a handful of other ex Woomalang players they all landed at the Tigers as 1 pointers.

My understanding was that because their "home club" was in recess, they could nominate a new club. Giving Sea Lake I think 6x 1 point players.

...... Yeah still dirty on it.

Interesting as coach Hartley said in an article yesterday that the Maryborough boys he’s signed will be 1 pointers
OI know the idea has been criticised on here before but, with several Maryborough players moving to Castlemaine this year on a temporary basis, would a merger between Castlemaine & Maryborough really be such a bad idea?

It's a fair drive albury
Yes it is Trent but there are ways and means to negate this. Castlemaine based players could train in Castlemaine and Maryborough based players in Maryborough. A lot of Ovens & Murray clubs have groups of Melbourne based players who train apart from their teammates in say Wangaratta - so in that respect it is not dissimilar.

I think Maryborough have to merge to survive and it is clear they have players who want to stay in the BFNL. A merged club give a greater population base and depth of players. For all the other issues these two points are big big pluses.

I know people will find fault but it is time to look for something different. The bottom line/acid test of course it what the clubs themselves think.

Maryborough should merge and either return to Bendigo and try and build again or head for the CH league.

Definition of insanity? We all know the next bit. Good point, try something different. Shake it up. Get a good deal on points, cap for first few years to make it work, put it on league to host a final down there.

They’re all logical things that should be done to encourage a merger discussion, however we all know what the league would do. They’d get given a $65k cap, 32 points, and be told they had to pay $20k to host a home final.

South have copped Strath and Gisborne as the two sides they play three times, after finishing 7th last year.
This is the gift that keeps on giving

Would assume a few calls have been made to HDFL to see if they have any spare spots going
