Best Adelaide game you have ever been to??

A real buzz for me was my first game - Round 2 against West Coast at home in 1993.

After giving Richmond a 90 odd point pantsing at the G in Round 1 we faced the reigning premiers who, along with Collingwood, i think we had struggled with in our early years. The boys withstood a West Coast comeback in the second half and got up by 15 points.

Mods kicked 6 and as i've ched up on, Bone, Jars and Freddy all had over 30 touches. I remember thinking Adelaide had arrived and 1993 would be a good season.

I have a few.

Round 4, 2001
Carlton Vs Adelaide @ Optus Oval
8.5 (53) 9.8 (62)

Riccuito - 4 goals including one from the boundary.

It was a cold, dark, wet, thundery day in Melbourne and we sat in the rain all game. Roo cleaned up Ryan Houlihan at the start.

Round 12, 2006
Adelaide Vs Essendon @ AAMI Satdium
30. 8 (188) 6. 14 (50)

Kenny McGregor had kicked the 30th goal, just seonds before the final siren had sounded. The crowd roared as if he had kicked the winning goal.
Bunjee's 250th too.

Round 18, 2007
Adelaide Vs Port Adelaide @ AAMI Stadium
9. 19 (73) 10. 5 (65)

No-one rated us against Port and that is why this win was special. With a depleted side and more late withdrawals, we stuck with Port and kicked away to win narrowly. The sweetest thing was, that I tipped them to win and I kew that it was going to happen right from the beginning of the week. Best win for the season at home.

awesome thread :thumbsu:

1. The 98 GF is clearly my favourite. Especially after sleeping on North Tce for 3 days for tickets only to miss out then eventually getting one of the last few tickets after more were released on the Friday before the game - and getting a gig on the news (Ch9 did a story on my turbulent week) as a result :D

closely followed by:

2. '05 "Dream Final" showdown - on par with the GF for mine.

And some memorable others...
3. '00 Showdown VII - 48 pts down in 3rd Qtr.. The rest is Roo history!
4. '97 Showdown II - Macca,Vardy,Bond seal the comeback in the wet.
5. '97 elim v Geelong - still one of the most atmospheric games at AAMI
6. '93 rd 8 v North - Mods 10.1, MOTY
7. '95 v Hawks - 7 goals down at H/T in a blizzard.. And the making of Andrew McLeod
8. '91 v Roys - Jamo kicked the winner after the siren
9. '93 v Pies - to clinch our first finals berth
10. '98 v Dons - injury ravaged, held off a Hird-inspired bombers team to win by 3 pts.
11. '98 Showdown IV - Vardy 7.6, Jars 5, 74 point drubbing of the paps
12. '06 elim v Shockers - Porps' infamous run down the outer wing and will never forget the noise of the crowd at 3qtr time, electric!
13. '98 v Blues - Mods' comeback (and the consequential roar), Jarmans' goal from the boundary just on 50m
14. '07 showdown XXIII - Sharing the comeback joy with all in Bay 114 :thumbsu: :D
15. '01 v North - Ladhams kicked the winner at Southern end members-side 50m flank.

And in 2008 - Trent Hentschel's comeback game... the roar might just be as loud as Rehn's and Mods' returns - here's hoping anyway :D

The Showdown final :thumbsu: Most important showdown ever. Loved waving goodbye to the port fans at 3qtr time. Who could forget Rutten's goal on Tredrea? Andrew McLeod also kicked a ripper of a goal on the run.

Yeah, I remember that. Tredda's defensive job on Rutten was amazing, keeping Truck to one goal was a fair effort :D

Best ever was 97 prelim, but I wasn't there. Best I've been to was either the ultimate showdown mentioned above, or the second one of this year. Never heard an Adelaide crowd like that before when we hit the front, small crowd but it was going off :thumbsu:

Other than the obvious finals triumphs, two games stick out...

1) The Round 2 game against Fitzroy in 1996 at Whitten Oval when the Jarmans brothers had a field day. Andrew kicked 6 and Darren kicked 8.

2) The Round 9 game against Hawthorn in 1995 at AAMI when Andrew McLeod made a name for himself. I think it was only his second game and he kicked that goal from the boundary line to win the game by 2 points. I remember changing ends to sit on the side that the Crows were kicking and being frustrated for the whole first half before Hart kicked some unexpected goals that brought us back into the contest.

My favorite was also one of the most frustrating. Round 2 2005 against Collingwood at the Dome....The game was one of the most frustrating skill error riddled games ever but that miricle goal from Macca deep in the pocket (we were right behind it and had a birds eye view off the boot!!!) made it a ripper. It also set our season up for our first Mclelland trophy (please don't remind me of the finals and allow me my moment!!!)

round 22 1993

the day we made the finals, would kill for a copy of this game on dvd!!!

that chant of were in the finals in the last quarter was unreal!!!!!

It was also a day game at the Telstra Dome, we havent had much success in the day games here. But the roof was closed.

This game was a defining moment for Adelaide for sure who hadn't beaten Collingwood for years and it gave us a huge confidence boost and turned our season around. It was the week after in Round 3 when we thumped Port in a home game and I remember Roo's great goal as he turned to celebrate with the crowd which was going ballistics.
