Milburn for PM... Interesting idea. Anyone know what his politics are? As far as I know, the Geelong Football Club has only produced one politician - Damian Drum, running for the Nationals (Northern Vic region).

http://damiandrum.com.au/biography

Damian Drum is the Victorian National Party Upper House member for Northern Victoria Region.

The region covers 48 per cent of the state, and extends from Mildura in the north, through to Corryong in the east, and as far south as Healesville.
Damian has been in State parliament since 2002.

He is currently the Coalition's Parliamentary Secretary for Rural and Regional Development.

Following an education in Shepparton and Kilmore, Damian became a qualified builder and ran his own garage and shed construction business in Werribee and Hoppers Crossing from 1987 to 1993.

Damian is also well known for his time in football. He played 65 games for Geelong from 1981 to 1990.

He was assistant coach of the Sydney Football Club from 1994-1998 and was senior coach at the Fremantle Football Club from 1999 to 2001.

Sorry for the minor thread derailment!

I don't know about that. History probably shows you didn't rotate enough during the year. But you lacked the depth to do it.

You had some injuries kick in which exasperated this. And, your kids (who I thought were going to be the difference this year) fell away rapidly on their output of 2010.

You can't suggest you peaked before round 8? when we beat you.
I sent a text to a Pies mate of mine at 1/2 time of that game and said "we will over run you in the 2nd half"

to which he replied "lol, we are the fittest team in the league, everyone knows that"

And I replied "no you're not. The media has made you think you are. You only have to watch footy to know we are fitter than collingwood"

The rest they say, is history.

Exacerbated :p

Typos are OK.
Exacerbate, exasperate.
Semantic, pedantic.
You knew what they meant. They knew what they meant.
Move along.
Nothing to see here.

That is a complete pisser coming from you Monnie.

I wish that I had a dollar for every time you have corrected my grammar.
I am sure I would be a rich man now.

That may be true in theory, but the fact is when people can't use words in a post correctly, yet insist on doing so, it detracts from the overall thrust of their message. A classic example is those who just blindly insert 'whom' instead of 'who' in every time, even when it is completely incorrect, in an obvious (and failed) attempt to sound intelligent.

So you can write however you want and people will probably be able to decipher it, but they may not give your post the consideration it deserves because of it. That's just how it is.

At home in private, bro. Not on line.

Yeah, but a couple of major points:
First, this is a Forum, not an English class. Most of us are interested in opinions, not grammatical use.
Secondly: It is all too often just a way of insinuating class/intellect differences onto others, imho.
Thirdly: language and linguistics are learnt primarily through absorption. Posters use it here and learn in the process.
Fourth: English is the most democratic, eclectic and dynamic language that changes on a daily basis. "Whom" is just so 90's!
Finally: Does anyone give a mark out of ten for spellin' an' grammer?

FWIW, "insert in' is tautologous;
"..but the fact is when people can't use words in a post correctly" should read "...can't correctly use words in a post" or even "..can't use correct words in a post". (but then, who cares?)

Back to topic....
The best excuse I heard came from a Pies supporter....
"You were lucky! Lucky you played US!!"

Jesus.

FWIW I don't really have a problem with poor grammar or poorly constructed paragraphs. But it does lessen the message being put forward.

And if I know someone writes poorly, and consistently, (note use of comma's mcdollop ;) ) I'm of a chance to skip their post when there are plenty of other opinions to read.

Bobby for one has come a long way in the way he lays out his message.
It's much easier to read. Even if the content is still crap.

just joshing Bobby :p

Could we possibly get off the subject of correct grammar and spelling, pronunciation and whatever, and get back to what the thread was originally intended to talk about?

Most likely not.
It's the off season, and we're premiers.
We can do what the **** we want. (not sure on the grammar there)

Very funny dtc by the way
