If Roo played for a vic team it would be him. His record stacks up greater than Hird and Bucks. 312 games 8 times All Australian, twice captain, of AA, twice AFLPA best Captain, and dont forget captain of Italian team of century :p. Also carried the Adelaide Crows on his shoulders for three years.

Everyone says Hird as he pushed his own barrow. And his send off was ego driven...all three of them. People call Buckley FIGJAM. going on the way Hirds finished his career I would say he deserves that crown as well. Both Roo and Bucks retired like men. Hird turned his into a circus.

But they are all equal hard and unfair to separate champions.

Rumours circulating about that FIGJAM Buckley delayed announcing his retirement so that he wouldn't have to share the limelight with the other retirees.

Hmmm.

Best retiree of 07?

Me - 35 not out in pre season cricket scratch match on Sunday, batted at no4, looked good, all the shots at nearly a run a ball.

"Giving myself hi fives:thumbsu:"

Another way of looking at it is how important the player is in the current side. For mine this is Gehrig. Finished the year as St Kildas main scorer. A huge hole to fill. I would say he is going to be the biggest loss to his team. Archer is a key defender at North still. Hird winning the club B and F. Would be equal second. Most of the other retirees played limited roles in their team this year.

thats easy ..hird clearly.....guys like thr roo as they call him here in adel not as good as people think and kouta just had a couple of god years ,hird was good for the whole of his career......guys like riccuito never had the injuries that hirdy had.......but watch all the crows fans go off lol

For me it would be...

1. Archer
2. Roo
3. Hird
4. Buckley
5. Kouta
6. Grant

In that order, but I would be happy for any of them to play for the Lions. Or Buckley to have stayed more then one year.

All champions and will be missed.:thumbsu:

pies fans say buckley
dons fans say hird
carlton fans say kouta
roos fans say archer
crows fans say roo
dogs fans say grant/darcy

and those who are not biased will agree that it's Fraser Gehrig !

All different players, but the Dogs players are the odd ones out.

Been a while since either would have been considered as first player picked in their teams on a Thursday night if fit.

:eek::eek::eek:
Grant was a far, far better footballer than Archer.

For what its worth I think it goes something like this...

Hird
Buckley
Grant
Riccuito
Kouta
Archer.

pies fans say buckley
dons fans say hird
carlton fans say kouta
roos fans say archer
crows fans say roo
dogs fans say grant/darcy

standard really

Grant v Darcy isn't even close, Grant was a better player by a country mile.

Don't think there is much at all between all 6 actually. Hird and Buckley had their profiles increased tenfold courtesy of The Footy Show who continually pumped their tyres up whereas the others were happy to let their footy do the talking but therefore didn't cop the same media exposure as the other two.

Forced to pick one though I would go with Hird, for a bloke who couldn't run or kick on his left foot he was a freak.

I do agree though that he turned his retirement into a circus
