please dont tell me that we have forgotten to include the one and only KENT KINGSLEY in this thread???

leading goal kicker down at the cattery a couple of times, and apparently ripped up the coburg 2's this year...

so i take it that if the same question is asked when chris judd eventually hangs up the boots you wont be nominating him?

i wouldn't be putting Judd in that class just yet. he's got another 100 odd games to go at the highest level to be in the same breath as Hird and Buckley.

buckley
hird
kouta
archer
roo
grant/darcy

the list goes on, but i can't believe NO ONE has even mentioned MARK BOLTON

Ok people lets just stop saying Grant and Darcy are as good as each other.
Grant = superstar up there with Hird (just under) Above guys like Archer.
Darcy was just a good footballer. No where near Grant.

Grant is in the Richo mould. Great ability and work rate, but lacked the ability to influence the important games, underlined by Grant's poor kicking for goal when it mattered.

Archer was an out and out champion that affected games much more than Grant. Darcy influenced games more than Grant although he wasn't the better player.

Don't think there is much at all between all 6 actually. Hird and Buckley had their profiles increased tenfold courtesy of The Footy Show who continually pumped their tyres up whereas the others were happy to let their footy do the talking but therefore didn't cop the same media exposure as the other two.

this is an intereting point

the public profile of these 2 is 10x the others via the Footy Show.

Most ridiculous reply on this thread by a long long way.
Archer was never even your number 1 backmen during the peak of his career,
how could he have been more influential? He never even won a best and fairest.
Grant goal kicking precentage over his career is actually quite good, just one season where it was off. Also Grant statisctically was better in finals then outside of finals, one us multiple games off his own boot (multiple bags of 7 over his carrer) from traditional CHF, despite during his peak he never realy played out of the goal square. The likes of Minton Connel and Cook would never have kicked as many goals as they did if Grant wasnt feeding them the ball.
Archer has never had a season as good as Grants 96 where he played CHB, despite grant upto that stage having played mainly full forward/centre half forward.

Give Chris Grant the media profile of Archer, and many replies on here would be quite different.
