Roast Bevo pull your ******* head in

Let’s say hypothetically he did step down.

Who are the current good candidates? A new coach would be licking their lips.
Didn't Montgomery want the job at one point? He was also senior assistant at your club back in 2015-2016, Beveridge's most successful two year period; the time he didn't have complete control over your club.

While I wouldn’t discourage anybody from writing to the club I doubt that a few hundred angry emails and letters would shift Bevo either. Unless of course it coincided with a players’ revolt.

Every club that fails to make the finals must get a truckload of these letters every year. Business as usual.

I reckon most of those members who threaten to cancel or downgrade their membership would be bluffing and although concerned, the club would be making the same assessment. They know some are rusted on types but most are only fair weather supporters. So a poor season will usually mean the year on year membership growth stalls for a bit. But as soon as the side is up and about again the members come back. Just look at Richmond.

No way he walks away from his salary. Don't underestimate the power of self interest. He talks about coaches knowing when it's time, but leaving money on the table is another matter.

He complains about the soft cap but could take a cut off he wanted resources for other things.

We will do the same thing next year, all the same stategy because he is too stubborn to admit he's wrong. Bevo will phone it in for the last half a year and finish with an elimination final loss.

We will then resign him for another 3 of the same.

I'd have dumped him in 2018. One trick pony. Emotion only works in short bursts. Our style of play is too taxing to sustain all season so top 4 is never possible. Needs to be told now he won't be renewed and hope he walks.
Don’t bet on it. There are plenty of precedents.

Tom Boyd left a lot more on the table than Bevo would be leaving.

Short of Clarko, who we know of.

Dean Cox and Adam Yze are the two who spring to mind if we want someone new, I honestly don't like the other coaches on the market right now (Bucks, Lyon, Leon etc), I'd rather not get an ex-Dogs (Gia, Byod) in as a head coach but wouldn't say no at all to M. Boyd coming back to take over Bubbas job as our defensive coach.

Buku is a defender, then promoted to seniors as a fwd on the back of 2 vfl games up front, then asked to play ruck relief, dropped and then comes back in as a defender. Then dropped again after 2 good games, 1 so so game. It’s Young all over again….

Rohan Smith was on radio Friday morning, in a conversation around Sam Darcy how it’s great to have flexibility in all your players, playing multiple positions is a strength etc etc. This coaching group needs to get a grip on reality and stop believing in magic dust.

In a game that has many different roles, it’s better to be a specialist in a certain role than average in multiple roles. There is no strength in having flexibility in all players. Naturally some players can do it, but the system breaks down otherwise. Proof is in the win / loss record and its easily observed with the naked eye when watching us play.

I feel like it is a genuine 50/50 whether Luke continues or leaves at the end of the year. Bloke looks angry, aggressive, untrusting of anyone and he was such a charming, affable and engaging personality when he first started.

If he walked, I don’t think we need anyone too high profile - the only one would be Clarko. Would also consider Leon or Hinkley.

Would be worth considering Monty, Yze, Matty Boyd but need an experienced senior assistant or coaching director as part of the deal (ie: Leon or Hinkley).

I’m hearing really good things about Mick Barlow at Werribee. Would like him as a line coach.

I would be a no to Lyon, Buckley, McVeigh, Gia, Pyke, Hanson, King.

Maybe a restructuring of roles would be good for Bevo as well as the club.

The hardest part would be regaining the trust of the players… if indeed he has “lost” them in any sense. (That’s still very much an open question for me)

True, and I can list a thousand others who stuck around far too long and had to be pushed.

Not very many go when its time. His personality type is more likely to stick around but for the benefit of all parties I think him walking away is the best outcome.

Thankfully on AFL Access All Areas this morning, Lloydy said the dogs problems are poor coaching and structure, not personnel. He said that even if we bring Lobb and Jones into the club, if the structure and game plan aren't fixed, we'll still be s***. Need more people in the media to start talking about this and putting pressure on the club to make changes.

Macrae playing on a wing/Treloar and Hannan in defence/Hunter in the VFL/more bizarre game tactics etc.

Did we concede the season a few weeks back and Bevo has been looking ahead to next year already?

We conceded the season before it began. This whole year has been experimenting and planning for a big year in 2024. Bevo is 16 moves ahead of everyone else. Our mastermind.

If Bevo left this season, Clarko would be announced as our senior coach within a week.

Who knows, he may even wait around 12 months, as I think there’ll be better opportunities then coaching GWS or North, which would be the two least sort after gigs in the land.

Anyone else notice change at 3/4 time and play more man on man in the last.
We seemed to make Fremantle dump kick more often ?

Or have I got that wrong ?

I'm at the point where watching our matches just makes me angry and frustrated and that's not how it should be.

It's the coaching.

I can see the talent we have and I see our nonsensical game style and it's infuriating.

Unless there's some massive changes over the off season, I'll occupy my time doing something else next year.
This pretty much sums up how I feel as well. I don’t want to be that angry and depressed. It’s not healthy and I watch football for enjoyment, so watching the way our side defends and applies pressure is just frustrating to the point of wanting to turn off the game.

I really hope something changes next season because this year has been one of the most frustrating that I can ever remember being a Dogs supporter. We should be so much better than we are, and I think it’s criminal to be where we are largely due to poor coaching and strategy. The list does still have a few holes, particularly key defenders, but otherwise it is a list that really should be contending. That’s on the coach and the players who at times have demonstrated extremely poor skills, particularly kicking.

I remember I once posted much the same thing a few years ago due to some poor decisions we were making both on and off-field.

That day you told me that I'd continue caring and be up and about when we next made finals, which from memory was the next year.

You know what I still don't care as much as I used to. This coach and football department has sapped my love for this club to the point that I'm indifferent to even making finals this year.

I continue to watch because I am rusted on but I rarely even go to games anymore.

I used to go to every home AFL and VFL games and most away games and now I watch on my phone whilst doing other things most weeks.

I'm the same. I remember that exchange and I honestly used to feel a lot more optimistic about the footy and winning and losing.

I don't like our style of footy at all this year. The backing off the mark, the lack of pressure, the way in which we seem to not lay a glove on opponents until it's well into our defensive 50, it stinks.

I think what gets to me the most is we seem to make everything such damned hard work. No easy marks, no easy kicks, no easy goals. It's draining.

The last time I really enjoyed a game was the Prelim final last year and that night we played a free flowing and fast game and it was great to watch. Mind you there has been times in previous years when we've lost but I've enjoyed the game because we've been attacking and we've played the game in the right spirit.

Hopefully we sort ourselves out off field in the coming months so we actually give the players a decent chance.

Check out Ed Richards' interview with RSN this morning.

He asked Beveridge to settle him in a position because he found being moved around so much unsettling

Lmao haven’t listened to the interview but that says a lot - versatility for the sake of it is just ridiculous especially on a player still trying to find their feet at the level. In reality you need a handful of players in the side to be versatile.

Also we have a coach who is extremely reluctant to make match day moves so why the **** is he so insistent on ‘versatility’ lmao

This is turning into a bad joke
