Rookie

As mentioned nearly a whole team effort and people will miss out but I thought Mattner was there all day. Torney nearly took the 2 marks of the year. I had him high because I rate coming back into the side harder to find your feet and perform. Mcgregor well held Tredrea and he has been the difference mostly.Ricuitto could have been higher but everyone could have had 5. Are we allowed to give 5s to everyone?

Extremely unlucky - Doughty, Thompson, Goodwin, Torney, Rutten, Hentshel Hudson, Edwards, Johncock, Shirley and Welsh!

ROTY

1. Rutten

BOG

5. Mattner - I'm on board if the the train isn't already full... always in the thick of things, hard running, hard tackling and even his ball use was good!
4. Goodwin - was everywhere today
3. Edward - always composed and uses the ball well
2. Hentschel - took some important marks
1. Ricciuto - probably lucky to get the medal but nonetheless a good game from the captain

BTM

3. McGregor - took on the best KPP in the league and won!
2. Torney - took a heap of important marks across half back
1. Shirley - kept Francou quiet (was he on him all match?) and got a bit of it himself

Rookie

Rutten - superb down back

Player of the Year
5. Mattner - Fantastic 4-quarter effort. His tackling, disposal and run through the lines today was amazing. Excellent game.
4. Riccuito - Another great game from the champion. Deserved the medal. His disposal under pressure (what about the handball  ) was brilliant.
3. McGregor - Kept Tredrea so quiet I didn't notice Warren out there. Not his most attacking game but his negating ability was unbelievable today.
2. Goodwin - Continued his good start to the year. Great goal to start and followed it up with a consistent perforamance.
1. Torney - SO IMPORTANT TO OUR DEFENCE! Courage poured out, his disposal was patchy early but was brilliant towards the end. Great game.

Best Team Man
3. McGregor - see above.
2. Mattner - see above.
1. Torney - see above.

Rookie of the Year
Ben Rutten - Van Berlo was good for the time he spent on the ground, but Truck was fantastic today. Negated his opponent well, used the ball well, did everything well. :)

POTY

5. MATTNER - love to rate him higher, but just couldnt. He is going to be a contender for the B&F no doubt. His run and bounce can be even more exciting than Macca.
4. JOHNCOCK - Absolutely brilliant again up back and forward.
3. RICCIUTO - Medallist and carrying on from his great form last week. Fantastic goal, great teamwork, strong presence and his handball today was unbeleivable.
2. TORNEY - Welcome back and welcome back again. Fantastic defensive work and i never realised how much we needed him!
1. REILLY.

ROY

Ben Hudson by a mile.

Mattner
Goodwin
Roo
Almost everyone else.

There's a lot of good feeling around for Trenschel and he did mostly okay, but doesn't always keep his feet at crucial moments. Cost us two goals because of that today. Maybe he needs to bulk up a bit more, or wear longer stops.

ROTY
Rutten

Could have had pretty much put any of the starting 18 in the votes this week best team performance i have witnessed for a very long time.

POTY

5 - Torney - a fantastic return to the side - all the promise he showed over summer thankfully didn't wash away with his injury..........definite starting 18. ;) .....I gave him 5 'cos he repelled attacks all day.
4 - Mattner - his running through the lines, chasing, and arm breaking tackles are what we need.........he backs himself over and over again - even when his decision making lets him down.............10/10 for peristance and self belief.
3 - Roo - led by example and did the hard stuff.
2 - Johncock - he would be in front in the B & F atm.
1 - Hudson - gave us first look at the ball against 3 ruckman - and with no support....... .....I thought he had a fair bit of work to do after his rucking performances in R 1 + 2...........but he was much more relaxed and self confident today.

apologies to about 10 others

BTM

3 - Huddo - guts all day
2 - McGregor - gave The Gimp a towelling
1 - Mattner - didn't stop running.

ROTY

(can someone confirm that the Truck is the only one eligible ????)

1 - Rutten - always finds a yard when he needs it - and did run to create when we had them on the rack

POTY

#5 - Eminem (aka Marshall Mathers aka Marlee Matlin aka Marty Mattner): Absolutely outstanding today, and it should have come as no surprise to anyone. There have been sure signs that he was building up to a performance like this in the first couple of games against the Weagles and Collingwont. The desire to run the lines and the attack on both the footy and the man is clear for all to see. Only needs to clean up his disposal now and he'll be a very good player in future. While we all love the captain, Marty was stiff not to take home the medal today.
#4 - Roodog (aka Captain Marvel): Finally free to revel in an onball role without the Ramsgate Silver Medallist on his hammer all day, Ricciuto did everything in his power to make sure he lifted the Showdown trophy after the final siren. Possibly would have got my nod for BOG had he not shanked that gettable setshot in the third quarter.
#3 - Radar Reilly (aka Aaron Fiora ;)): Reilly's best game for the club - quite simply, he was superb at times, especially early in the second quarter when we were doing our best to blow the game open. This wasn't Radar the sweeping seagull, this was Radar in the thick of it, going forward and putting his primary weapon to good use. The only negative was his tendency to drift out of it times, but overall he was very very good. Hopefully this is the version of Reilly we get to see week-in, week-out from now on.
#2 - Jason Torney (aka JT/Horny): Solid as a rock down back. Courageous and athletic, he got back and cut off leads, got to contest after contest and provided drive going forward. If only we could get 22 games out of both he and Hart, we'd have creativity off halfback not seen since the days of 97/98.
#1 - Andrew McLeod (aka Mr. September): Like a rolls royce with a jet engine under the bonnet, Macca made Cassisi look like a hack today, at times leading him a merry dance... literally. As with Reilly, hopefully this is the version of McLeod we see for the majority of the season.

BTM

#3 - Kenny McGregor: Finally got the job on Tredrea and as a result did a sterling job today, wearing him like a glove for the most part. Unlike Chad Cornes, has seemingly shaken off his poor start to the season. Hopefully he can go on to forge a real Batman and uh, Rutten partnership with the big truck.
#2 - Ben Hudson: Looking at the assignment pregame, he was faced with the best ruck division in the land. Brogan, Primus, Lade. Toiling manfully he did fantastically well, taking more marks than that triumverate put together.
#1 - Scott Thompson: This last slot could have gone to any number of players... Mattner, Doughty, Shirley, Goodwin, Edwards, etc. but in the end I've plumped for our new recruit on his home debut. There is so much to like about this kid - his attack on the footy, his unceasing desire to go in and win every contest and his uncanny ability to lead hard like a marking forward when stationed in the forward-50, football-wise he reminds me very much of Cameron Ling. Already looks a more effective and versatile player than Stenglein, and will only improve as the weeks and months roll on.

Rookie

#1 - Rutten: Didn't have too much to do thanks to Port Adelaide's schitzophrenic forward line and non-existent service into it, but looks to be lapping up every minute of his football education at this level. Too late now, but if only Ayres had blooded this kid in this role a season or two earlier.

How hard is it to narrow it down to 5 this week? Brilliant effort all round by the lads.

POTY

5. Riccuito - the dominant figure on the ground in his 300th game. The only time Port looked threatening was when he went off the ground for a breather.

4. Mattner - another genuine candidate for BOG with his hard running, fierce tackling and overall good diposal. Has moved up from 3rd tier and is threatening the top tier

3. McGregor - gave Tredrea the greatest spanking Tredders would have suffered in many years. Great example of courage in the 1st quarter.

2. Torney - just another who could have been given BOG. Welcome back Jason, you're back to stay.

1. Hudson - best ruckman on the ground by 3 light years. Made Port's triumvirate of ruckmen look like B grade Clydesdales.

Doughty, Edwards, Goodwin, Hentschel, Johncock, McLeod, Reilly and Shirley all could have been in the best players.

Best Team Man

3. Shirley - brilliant start to the season having stitched up Judd, Burns and Francou in the last 3 weeks. Great team effort.

2. Mattner - see above

1. Riccuito - see above

ROOKIE - another convincing display by Rutten who stitched up a series of opponents.

Neil Craig Analysis

9/10 this week for the coach who correctly decided to attack, atttack and attack some more with our area of advantage - the mid-field. 3/10 for Choco who tried to play with a 4 or 5 man forward line when getting trounced.

Tool of the Week

Michaelangelo Rucci for seemingly thinking he can influence the result of the game by bagging and denigrating the Crows all week and correspondingly building up the Power to super power status.

He obviously believes the penis mightier than the sword. ;)

A well deserved award to the unchallenged tool of the week!!
