Eat my words, darley simply too good today. Regroup and try again next year
Yeah, not really in doubt. Something to build on for South though. Will lose a few and need to be better at recruiting the right type of player.
Big loss for Marsh. Would have played Lakers at Darley now have to go to Ballarat to face Lakers. Redan a serious threat.

Surely the league is taking the pi5s with the way they have set up week one of the finals.

Why would you say that for they have not moved any games around they are how they fall Lakers and Redan deserve games in Ballarat for their higher finish even though they are not at their "home ground" and it's just unfortunate for a Nth City that they have to play Darley at Darley

Looks normal to me. Are you talking about where they have structured the reserves and under 18's?
Yes I am. Could have had lakers and the marsh in all 3 grades at eastern oval Saturday. Darley and city seniors Darley east 2s and east and city's 18s at Darley Saturday. And Sunbury Redan seniors Sunbury and south 2s and Redan and Ballarat 18 s on Sunday at eastern oval. No ones disadvantaged then. Revenue Raising????. I would hope not.

Well that does make sense. They should change it.

Been overseas for 6 weeks, dont think ive missed to much, back in time for the real stuff this week.

Lakers v Marsh - I assume the cobras had one eye on finals against Redan last week, resting Phyland, Bolton & Denham. All 3 will return and id expect Cobras by 5-6 goals. Strong across all over the ground, could still win flag even without 1 or 2 key players (eg- Sherlock injured for year?). Will be interesting to see how teams try and nullify Jarrah Maksymow. Darley did it I round 1 and don't think a team has come close since. Most damaging player in the comp, hands down. Dean Heta has taken over number 1 ruck role from injured Burton and has excelled & can go forward or back. Will most likely have at least 18 premiership players from last year there again this year on GF day.

I feel as those Lakers are an 'x-factor' short of winning it again this year. Id be more confident if they had another target up forward to go with Lucas Anderson. And they need Nathan Pring to get back to his early 2016 form, with his speed and running goals, very injury prone past 12 months. Last season, they didn't really have a recognised ruckman, hopefully Arthur Armstrong returns this week, liked the look of him in the couple lakers games ive seen this year. Obviously will need midfield generals Nick Peters, Clifton, Taylor ect all firing. Would describe a lot of their team as 'workman like'. Been building for a few years now, under Webb now Moth, would be a shame if they didn't achieve anything in this window they are in.

Predictions week 1.

Marsh will beat Lakers. They hold no fear of them at all. Been the better side all year and will prove it convincingly. Don't worry about last week. Early call, but could Lakers go in straight sets?

Darley will beat North. No real surprise happening here I can see. Darley may still have a few missing and North have been one of the form sides over the past two months. Mainly thanks to a favourable draw. But cannot see them winning this.

Redan to win. Sunbury been ordinary lately and have been cursed by injury. Redan peaking at right time.

If that happens, week two will see;
2nd semi Marsh v Darley
1st semi Lakers v Redan

Only my thoughts but time will tell.

Darley v North - Darley started like a house on fire early in the year, dipped mid year and have been finding form over the last few weeks, although not against the stronger sides in the comp. IMO will need to be at nearly full strength if they are to win the granny. Shane Page (calf) will be underdone if he comes in, as will Dan Roy. I assume Brian Graham will be available for rest of season ?? Won't have the same freedom he did early in the season, now opposition teams know what he can do. Expect a heavy tag. Ruckman Abe Cameron likely to play from what I heard in the press conference, even though he dislocated his shoulder last Saturday (improved a fair bit in last 18 months, still pretty raw)...would rather him than Abe Kur, even though he has played a lot of VFL 2s, he would get eaten alive by Heta, Big O, Armstrong, if he was carrying Darley's ruck duties solo. Would much rather Docherty back at CHF than FB, as he had to play on Fev last week. Leigh Spiteri in hot form and has a chance to really enhance his reputation in the BFL in the next few weeks if they go deep into September. Pace out of the midfield is a worry. Home deck with crowd behind them, should get the chocolates.

North done well to make top 6 really. Losing Micaleff early in the year. Lost a lot of experienced heads after that 2015 grand final, but still have a core group together. McCartin, Ryan Luke, Jenkins, Jones, Bromley-Lynch's. But have the thinnest list in the comp with zero depth (their ressies running out with 15 blokes every week). I cant see them kicking a winning score without Will Young in their side. Not sure if he is any chance to play though. Would love to see coach Jordyn Burke come out aggressive and lead the way .. Beat Darley at Darley mid year so will be full of confidence. Hobbs back at the right time. Have nothing to lose and all pressure will be on Darley.

Very concise for someone who's been overseas for 6 weeks.

What do you have on Redan v Sunbury?

I love that saying, Nothing to lose! just the game!

Unfortunately Darley were just a class above today.
Looking at the scores, Bacchus Marsh are looking really ominous in their pursuit of back to back flags.

Fortunately North didn't get further than they deserved.
Agree, Marsh looking hard to beat. I tipped it.
Tickets on sale from ticketek Monday for Darley v Marsh at Darley Saturday.
