Big Bucks League. They've lost the internationals, too much of a joke if the Australian internationals aren't playing.

Big Bush League is what I'm sticking with.

CA will be patting themselves on the back though and saying it is a raging success, plus the BCCI will be perfectly happy with our blokes getting white-washed up there.

Pretty much this. Bit sad really

It's a joke. However the Australian selectors are also a complete joke. Pace bowlers take wickets in the sub continent due to elite line, length and subtle variations. Someone like Morris shouldnt be anywhere near the squad imo. He's just nowhere near consistent enough. Akram and Younis were only successful with high pace due to exceptional control (and ball tampering)

Akram was also helped by being a left armer with great swing (particularly of the old ball, again tampering) but it's also why someone like Starc should still be playing each match. If Hazelwood and Cummins aren't fit for each test then your best line and length bowler with variations is Neser followed arguably by Boland.

Agar's selection to the squad is also a complete joke. His (not recently) previous tight run rate in T20 was due to being able to bowl it tight while the opposition were actively looking to score hard and fast. Against guys happy to sit back and wait for the bad ball he'll get monstered.

Has anyone figured out when tickets to the Scorchers final for Saturday go on sale? The league uses Ticketmaster and Ticketek (for over East) and I can't see anything on either.

Players pissing off mid season to play in other leagues like the South African one and the UAE league * me off more. Need to find a way to cut that s**t out.
Would probably have to remove the salary cap and stipulate that all contracts must be for a full season (or some sort of restrictive covenant barring participation in another league while the BBL runs).

Interesting to think what a 12 month cricket calendar would look like without International cricket.

Jan: BBL (AU), UAE T20, SA20 (SA), BPL (BAN)
Feb: UAE T20, PSL (PAK), SA20 (SA), BPL (BAN)
March: PSL (PAK)
April: IPL
May: IPL
June: IPL
July: MLC (USA)
Aug: The Hundred (ENG)
Sept: The Hundred (ENG), CPL T20
Oct: CPL T20
Nov:
Dec: BBL (AU), Lanka PL (SL)

Awfully crowded in Jan and Feb. No wonder BBL can't attract talent. November seems to be T20 league free though.
Haven't even included the Super Smash (NZ) which at the moment is still tied to its domestic teams (not franchised).

Is this where cricket is headed in the future ?

International windows ala soccer probably.

I suspect that is exactly where it is headed.

Ultimately, money talks. Imagine you're the 25th best player in the country. Are you going to work your backside off and hope for an opportunity at Test level, or are you going to ply your trade around the world and guarantee yourself a steady income? Or possibly an income in excess of what you would earn for representing your country?

Like ioppolo said, there will come a time where there will be something like international windows. Or Test cricket is almost exclusively between the big 3. Whatever happens, you can bet that things will be very different 20 years from now.

After a few seasons in the doldrums I'm actually quite enjoying the return of "Cheat Code" Smith.

Almost forgot how ridiculously dominant he can be.
I think the amazing thing about these knocks is that it's not really a return to anything, he's never been a bludgeoner, or someone who can go from ball one before even in his best white ball knocks.

He's arguably the best batter we've had outside Bradman and he's somehow getting better.
