Disappointing how little coverage the final of this national competition is getting with outlets like The Age. Literally no mention on its website.

Probably two reasons…
1) time difference
2) outside of Wa no one gives a fig about the big bash…

Eagles Collingwood 2018 QF for me was the loudest. Couldn't hear the person right next to me when they were talking.
When Jetta kicked that goal in the last 1/4 was the loudest crowd I've ever heard, I was at ground level, I was looking around and up into the stands and it was mass insanity, I just started laughing at the sheer madness of it.

Best game of cricket I've ever been to. Was insane. Innings break I thought things were delicately poised. They got too many arsey edges for 4s early but after that I thought we stemmed the flow as best we could. 3 wickets during the power surge and Neser for a duck had me up and about.

Nek minnut 3 early wickets including the laziest ****ing stroll out since ScoMo's vaccine "plan" had me fuming. Then just as I thought we had things back on track and a 50/50 game, BAM another ridiculous runout and a two wicket over had me in all sorts.

Enter Cooper Connolly

My ears are still ringing with the chant of COOPER!!! COOPER!!! COOPER!!! ****ing ridiculous!

Maybe its recency bias but that was the loudest crowd I've heard, and I've been to all Eagles finals at Optus and others that were loud like the 2011 Semi vs Carlton too. Unbelievable atmosphere.

SCORCHERS!!!

Looking at the ratings for last night's it's clear Melbourne just isn't as big of a sporting town as the rest of the country sadly.

Something, something Vicbias in AFL commentary box.

AT for national honours - captaincy?

I agree that commentators should be neutral, but channel 7 sure doesn't. On the other side, Brett Lee and Mark Waugh make no effort to hide their dislike of the scorchers, so at least we get Gilly and Langer to even it up.

I guess having Haddin and Lee commontate the Sixers games is ok then.

I saw this brewing on twitter last night chuckled to myself on account of both Ponting and Nicholson revving up the Heat's chances last night, and the amount of anti-WA bias we get in most other broadcasts.

Lo and behold... the hypocrisy.

Anybody having a go at the Scorchers because they beat a Heat team that was missing a number of players on Test duties in India can pound sand. The Scorchers got a grand total of zero matches out of their two elite all-rounders, because one had surgery and missed the whole tournament and the other was playing for Australia and then broke his finger. They lost all three of their first-choice overseas players because one got done for doping, one had a family medical emergency, and the last one hurt himself just before the tourney. Then they lost an emerging pace bowler (ignore his previous T20 stats, he's a better player now and took 9 wickets at an economy rate of 6.85 in this BBL) for most of the tourney because he has to carry drinks for the test squad, and also had a very good short format spin bowler miss large chunks of the season, and their best pace bowler missed the second half of the tourney and both finals matches due to injury. Yet they still managed to be favourites all the way through. They were missing just as much talent as the Heat during the final, except they were missing that talent for a lot of the tourney as well. They win because their depth is just better than every other side and they don't fall in a heap when they lose some of their stars and their overseas recruits.

I agree with the bloke who said the game was pretty pedestrian until the end.

I was there, 10 rows from the front and honestly? Couldn't work out why early innings Turner and Inglis were playing for singles - prioritising holding onto their wicket I presume now.
I also thought the pitch looked like it had demons in it for Dorff's first over - the gun was showing 133kph but in real life it looked proper 145. Really balanced out after that early flutter.

Also, I'm glad it wasn't at the WACA because it was ****ing hot. It was still 34 at 8PM. Literally felt like a furnace. It really added to the atmosphere.

Also, big props to Matt Kelly for signing a beach ball that fell onto the pitch before throwing it back.
Big boos to the security guard who claimed it for himself. :p:p:p

Went to Optus tonight to see the Scorchers take home cup number 5.

A thought came to me - isn’t it nice that our purple friends can celebrate success. Only in summer obviously!!!

not true - SA NSW QLD and TAS care about bbl

What I am looking forward to is briztoon posting about his beloved Heat and his analysis of our list🤣🤣🤣

That's how they like to play now. Slow and steady through the first half and then start accelerating in the back 1/3 if you have wickets in hand. The power surge promotes this, most teams take it around over 13/14

What is this cricket you speak of?

I caught one 10 minutes ago, and threw it out the back yard.
