I know im an old campaigner who yells at clouds but it ******* shits me now how a forward defensive shot if well timed is a ******* boundary. Modern bats have just become too powerful for the weight.

my 1992 World Cup special GN scoop is almost double the weight of the top bats now and outside of the sweet spot (which is still very ******* sweet and powerful) the rest of the bat would be lucky to be half as powerful as modern ones. Back then you had to time the ball right and middle it to get it to the boundary or for a six.

In 95/96 B&H match against Sri Lanka Mark Waugh hit to me the best and sweetest shot i've seen. Almost straight down the ground during his innings of 130. It was ******* huge and was close to going out the ground. Literally talking about the one the purest timers and natural talents the game has ever seen play the shot of his career. With a modern bat it would have landed well outside the ground.
Totally with you on this. Mistimed clunks into a gap find the boundary these days.
