Surely, unless there are exceptional circumstances (were there?), if you produce a dangerous and unusable pitch then the game is awarded to the visitors?

Unlike India, teams don’t really have any say in or control over the preparation of the pitch so it’d be a bit unfair to penalise the home team like that

It’s also a one off situation in the BBL

After losing the toss I suspect the Scorchers will be happy to split the points and run

Yep renegades lose nothing with a draw against the reigning premiers .

Almost feel sorry for the ground staff but its Geelong so **** em

Wasn't Banners player of the year last year?

What's Eski on?
What was Cam Green on?

They should've made room.

Apparently they offered Bancroft a 40% pay rise from last year & was trumped by one that was almost double the NEW Offer
Get used to it, it's the way of sport nowdays

Then they've probably been underpaying him.

Apparently it wasn't all about money.

I heard he moved as he wasn't impressed at how he was treated.
Especially being overlooked last year for the first 4 games when they opened with Adam Lyth who
turned out to be a spud.

It's still not the Renegades fault that the groundsmen didn't do their job though.

Disagree

Groundsman doing their job should be the responsibility of the home team/association. Given they can request the groundsman to do pitches a certain way, they should also be responsible if the pitch fails to meet standard

It'd make sense at an international level, where the governing body and the team are essentially the same entity, and both have the same interests in the grounds selected and pitches prepared. Makes less sense domestically when the governing body is responsible for both teams and chooses the grounds. You really think the Renegades are telling the Kardinia curator what sort of pitch they want? You think any BBL team is doing that? This isn't India hosting a Word Cup - the teams play on the wicket they're presented with.

The Renegades can't sack an underperforming curator, why are they responsible for one?

Yeah agree, cant blame the Gades for this debacle. Blame is squarely on the Geelong dung heap. Let's save the remaining money in the redevelopment budget and just bulldoze the entire stadium to the ground so it is nothing more than a bad memory.
It is the only sane response.
