Ashton hasn't played a shit ton of National level cricket like Stoinis though...2nd, but Agar still clearly 1 for mine.
Stars did it one year and lost to fourth place Hobart at the MCG. As a result we hosted Hobart at the WACA in the final. The Scorchers have to win their last 4 to get top spot so it's unlikely.
We've got a tough run home with Brisbane x 2 and the Sixers being our last 3 games.
Hopefully get a win tonight.
I know the Heat have had two wash outs, but they have a real chance of going through the home and away season undefeated.
Not sure if that's been done before.
I don't like all of this moving the line up around with Smith, Labs, head etc to open just to fit Green in.Apparently Smudge wants to open the batting. If that's the case then we should have Cameron Green bat at 4 it's where he bats best at FC level since he can build an innings by taking about 50-75 balls to get set and have plenty of other batsmen to keep him company and Head would be perfect as that counter attacker at 5. At 6 he has to come in when we're 4/400 and need a quick 100 runs or 4/50 when he starts running out of partners since he'd have to bat with the tail and eventually gets stranded.
Green is just too good at Shield level and the best way for him to develop is to bat at 4 and bowl some handy overs so our attack can rest more, a similar role to the legendary Jacques Kallis.
My ideal XI would be.
1. Smith or Marnus
2. Khawaja
3. Marnus or Smith
4. Green
5. Head
6. Bison
7. Inglis/Carey (WK)
8. Cummins (C)
9. Starc
10. Lyon
11. Hazlewood
Unpopular opinion: For those of us who wants Bancroft in, just NO. "But he's been excellent in shield cricket" You may ask. He tends to overbalance towards the off side which makes him very LBW prone and makes it harder for him to pickup the swinging delivery. As excellent as he's been on Shield cricket, he's been sh*t in division 2 cricket in England averaging about 22 which is simply not good enough which suggests he isn't good in foreign conditions and he has struggled on recent A tours against New Zealand and Pakistan who have near test level attacks. In the WACA the bounce stays true so he doesn't have to worry about the moving ball as much like he would in the UK. Plus he bats too slowly especially with Khawaja down the other end who already plays the anchor like role. Not to mention he isn't up to it when he was given the opportunities for the Australian side (averages 26). However he may have a form resurgence.
Marcus Harris = Not up to test standard and isn't up to it. I would melt if we picked him.
Renshaw: Better off replacing Khawaja.
It isn't just to fit Green in though, it's because there are questions whether the replacements are good enough.I don't like all of this moving the line up around with Smith, Labs, head etc to open just to fit Green in.
Just pick Renshaw or Bancroft to replace Warner.
Smith is already in Decline IMO.
Opening would be even harder.
If being bad in foreign conditions was a reason to not pick an opener we would have been done with Warner years ago.Apparently Smudge wants to open the batting. Harris obviously isn't. Renshaw isn't. I don't think Bancroft is either.
It isn't shifting too many around, just Smith to open and Green slotting into his spot. I think if Smith wants a new challenge we should throw him into it.
Agree with most of that.If being bad in foreign conditions was a reason to not pick an opener we would have been done with Warner years ago.
You're overanalysing it just to shoehorn Green in when he hasn't even been that good. His spot is currently occupied by Marsh and I'm sure the second Marsh has a poor innings he will be dropped to get the golden boy Green in so he won't be out for long.
Keep it simple and just pick an opener to replace the opener who just retired.
Bancroft. Harris. Renshaw. In that order.
I think that's exactly what it is though. It isn't just to fit Green in though, it's because there are questions whether the replacements are good enough.

Who will average more opening out of Smith, Bancroft, Renshaw? I'll bet on Smith.I think that's exactly what it is though.
I'm not sure either Renshaw or Bancroft are up to it.
But moving one of our great numbers 4's to open and to ignore someone who has
been dominating Shield cricket just so Green gets a game doesn't seem right to me.
Done and dusted. There was talk of the Renegades game where it was abandoned due to the dangerous pitch being re-played.
Has that all been put to bed and we stick with just splitting the points or is it still a possibility?
I’d be calling them to Merge with BangladeshJust saw the pic of the signed Pakistan shirt they gave Davy. They were a great guest side but what’s the general consensus of all their niceness? Too nice? Or just classy af? Would we be annoyed if we were Pak supporters, sort of like how we melt when WCE players joke around with the opposition after a loss? Or is it better to show respect and play in good spirits?
My main thought was they signed the wrong side, he can't get it framed showing BABAR on the back and the signatures.Just saw the pic of the signed Pakistan shirt they gave Davy.
