It will be interesting to see the coverage of this.
Don't think you'll see much sympathy. Everyone seems pretty one sided up here in relation to that prick.

Somewhat ironically, David Gail played the fiance of Shannen Doherty's Beverley Hills 90210 character Brenda Walsh, with Shannen's terminal cancer dating back to 2017 placing her on many of the lists for this thread.

I only watched BH 90210 in the early seasons in the very early 1990s and not religiously, so was surprised to find out something odd about the character of Brenda Walsh after looking up David Gail's death this morning. After Shannen departed the show in 1994 Brenda was written out, but not entirely. Her character often featured in plotlines after this until the show finished at the end of the decade, or she (Brenda) was 'there' during certain scenes - on the other end of the telephone, outside or in the next room, but just not seen or heard by the viewers.

So in effect, Brenda didn't really depart the show, she became an unseen character, like Maris from Frasier, Hyacinth and Richard's son Sheridan in Keeping Up Appearances or Arthur's wife from Minder. These characters mentioned were never seen, however some unseen characters are eventually seen on-camera, like Violet and Bruce again from Keeping Up Appearances or Robert and Liz's son and daughter in Mother & Son.

But the inverse of this - a seen character becoming an unseen character - is extremely rare. Besides Brenda from BH 90210, there was Sophie (Mel's drama-queen younger sister) from 'The Worst Week of My Life' and Bruno from "Kingswood Country' who much like from Brenda never truly departed when the actors portraying them left the shows - they were frequently mentioned by other characters and were just out of sight or on the other end of the phone. There was a similar situation on Are You Being Served when Harold Bennett (Young Mr. Grace) in 1981 due to failing health had to retire from acting and died within the year. After an unsuccessful attempt to introduce Old Mr. Grace (himself previously) unseen), it was said that Young Mr. Grace had returned, but from this point on was never seen or heard again. The only other example I can name off-hand is one of the sons Brendan from 1990s sitcom Step By Step. Somewhat superfluous from the start among the large cast, his role declined further until the character was removed completely in the final seasons, but he was still frequently mentioned by his parents or siblings and just out of sight or at school, so he never truly left the show.

Another health scare for the royal family

* I got her ex husband a real P.O.S. on my list for the 2nd year in a row.

Kind of surprised the secret service haven't taken Andrew out yet, given the worst/more ghastly Revelations of that rock spider grub are going to (hopefully) be exposed soon.

He was/is a Jimmy Saville acolyte and close friend.
