That is a great cover.

Huge fan of In The Woods - one of my favourite bands. Heart of the Ages and Omnio are both masterpieces in my opinion, while Strange in Stereo is not far behind. They nailed all three albums, and the b-sides/covers compilation is better than many bands could hope to achieve with their full albums. A shame they quit when they did, but I guess like Kyuss, quitting after three classic albums in a row, has only added to their legend.

A couple of my favourite songs from them...

Cheers tima, I've just got into them funnily enough, I can see them occupying my play list for the coming weeks in competition with moonspell, paradise lost and anathema.

Loving the In Mourning album Weight of Oceans. This is last track and borderline sludge. Riff is addictive.

Plus like a lot of others on here, Tragic Idol is on constant playlist rotation. This is favourite at moment. Clean vocals and riffs reminds me of early Metallica. Great workout music.

They are playing Saturday night at the Tote. Catch them if you can, they killed it.

Another Heathen Skulls tour was just announced.

Katatonia's new album will; be released August 27, entitled 'Dead end kings'.

Hope its better than the last couple . They have hit a wall IMO.

Did you ever get into Jonas Renske's now defunct mid-90s black metal band Diabolical Masquerade? Ravendusk in my Heart, Phantomlodge and Nightwork are three really good albums. For those of you who preferred the Dance of December Souls-Brave/Murder/Day era Katatonia.....

if you like acid king like i do

bit slower and less rocked out. always on the lookout for female vocal doom

also came across the very interesting hypnos (czech) who not long ago put out an album

not trying to be too clever, just serving up solid riffs a little more creatively

Any of you guys into a band called 'Green Carnation', got into them recently, listening to a albun called 'Acoustic Verses', very good, some caomparisons can be made to Anathema....will listen to them more in the next week or so. Can't provide a youtube link as I am at work.

new be'lakor is out. has anyone given it a listen yet? apparently it's top notch and as good as "stone's reach". if that's the case, definitely will be up there for album of 2012 for me. will listen tomorrow.

Only heard the first single a little while back and it sounded to me like it took off right where Stone's Reach finished...do plan on checking the rest of it out though as I quite like the band.

Yes - their album "Light of Day, Day of Darkness" is absolute gothic/doom GOLD.

Similar to Anathema, they changed their style mid stream so the album you refer to is quite polite, almost progressive rockish...the other album you might then like is "The Quiet Offspring".

IMO, the earlier material is waaaaaaaaaay better. The original line-up was mainly various members of a couple of black metal bands like Emperor and Carpathian Forrest.

Thanks! I've also listened to 'A Blessing in disguise', i'll check out the other albums real soon.
