A healthy dose of reality - the message Richmond supporters need to hear heading into the 2025 season.

Well said but sadly I'm not sure the people who need to hear & see this the most will actually view it.

You'd think we'd understand better than any other supporter base that patience is needed to achieve ultimate success, but it would seem that the recent successes has made some think that success is our right rather than earned.

Half the time we go off our heads is just to let the anger and frustration out
Vent your spleen criticise everyone
10 minutes later take a deep breath and you feel a lot better. Then the next day you have a brand new positive outlook
If you don't let the anger go and v release all your frustration
Then you tend to brew on it all week

Absolutely all for that!

There are some out there though who genuinely have that grim outlook 24/7 though, that’s who it’s for!

We definitely all need an outlet of sorts!

Just wondering if you are still planning on uploading the audio of these on spotify? The last one that is there is "WCE Match Sim Review"

Thanks
Yeah the weekly Monday night shows will go onto Spotify etc.

The live Thursday show with oppo supporters I might as well

Thanks Chris for this common sense post. I reckon Richmond are one of the boldest experiments in list mgmt ever undertaken in AFL. Predominantly cos we're talking expansion club access to high end talent except we're a destination club based in Melbourne. We have the culture and resources to retain and develop talent. And we have the salary cap space to target quality free agents. Sure there will be pain in the next couple of years but I'm super confident we will see steady improvement over the next few seasons as we build our next dynasty. I'm happy for the other clubs to fiddle around with their lists as they desperately try and contend in 2025 and 2026.

I still think we should expect competitive matches. That means we put up strong resistance and show something. There’s no excuse for copping 100 point shellackings every week. We might as well be relegated for a couple of seasons.
Expect competitive matches? NO! Hope for competitive matches? YES!

We've still got enough veteran bodies in the side when available not to be absolutely crushed every week. I'm not expecting 2 goal losses but I'm not expecting complete capitulations every week with no resistence. There's no excuse for these types of results.

Reckon it'll be quite variable. Some games we win, some very competitive, some we get crushed. Lots we fade out of. hopefully lots where our plan works, even if we don't win.

Also I hope that we use our mature guys to get smashed around, and massively develop our youngsters.

yeah exactly this.

we will be ultra inconsistent which will give a wide range of varied results.

Consistency could be a major issue with our already large injury list. If we get lucky the youthful enthusiasm will help our performance early in the year. The players returning from injury + Balta should help mid-year onwards. Hopefully we establish a consistent best 23 mid/late year to see out the season.

The big factor will be whether players step up. We are desperate for 4-6 players to put their hands up as genuine AFL standard players. No one really pushed beyond being a solid fringe player last year.

Going to come out and say it, these seasons where we develop and grow are the best seasons to head to the footy. Less crowds, more enjoyable seating and also the expectation is to just watch the kids develop.

Now if they could fire the MCG hype man into the sun and lose the obnoxiously loud music during the breaks, life would be perfect for heading to the football.

Great show tonight guys, really appreciate it. My idea for quickening up the game, is bring back 15 metre penalties, for minor infringements, 50 metres for major infringements, and get rid of the ridiculous stand rule. Scorelines in the past 20 or so years have been dwindling to a point, that scores of 100 points or more are getting less common. I miss the days of 18.12 defeating 16.15 scores, as well as 100+ goal Coleman medalists. And back then, weather played a big part the results. Simpler times = better times. I know, I'm showing my age here, I am a dinosaur.
