Dannnnnnnnnn - fair enough mate. Glad you enjoyed it so much. I like it a lot but didn't love it, but sure as hell wish I loved it as much as you and some others. Might have to give it another playthrough soon.

5. Lil Inferno
Awesome little time waster and the only thing I haven't hated about the Wii U so far.

4. Ni No Kuni
Can't get enough JRPG's and this one was excellent

3. Civilization V: Brave New World
Do expansions count? I play way too much of this game whenever something new is released, and no exception to the newest expansion.

2. X-Com: Enemy Within
Both Enemy Unknown and it's follow up were fantastic, best X-Com game in a very long time.

1. GTA V
Can't pass it up.

Fantastic input, please enlighten us about how good The Last of Us and GTA V were on PC.

What about ppl who have BF usernames of Retired2Sacked? Surely we can ignore anything they contribute?

Was going to rip into him but you two handled it brilliantly

1st: The Last of Us
2nd: Ni No Kuni
3rd: GTA V
4th: Pikmin 3
5th: -

My order may change once I play God of War Ascension, Dead Space 3, Bioshock Infinite, Tomb Raider, Pokemon X/Pokemon Y, Legend of Zelda:ALBW, Super Mario 3D World (may not play them for ages).

I would've liked to wait until new consoles came out but I don't think anything would be cracking my top 5.

...

Honourable Mention goes to a few games I haven't been able to play yet.

Zelda, Luigi's Mansion 2, The Wolf Among Us & Ni No Kuni are all games that I should've played but haven't.

Resogun is my honourable mention now.

5. Metro: Last Light
- Asmosphere, looked fantastic on PC.

4. Bioshock Infinite
- Atmosphere + story.

3. Ni No Kuni
- Top 3 JRPG of the generation, with Persona 4 and Xenoblade. Fun story, great art style.

2. The Last of Us
- Probably the best story I've ever encountered in a game. Highs higher than most, lows not such a big deal.

1. Persona 4 Golden
- Played this over 2 or 3 months, enjoyed this as much as any other game I've played.

Special metions:
Tomb Raider, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Brothers, Fire Emblem Awakening.

List could change once I finish Mario, A Link Between Worlds etc.

5. Resogun
- When a free game keeps you from playing the games you payed for then it's doing something right. Great little game and good time waster that turns into hours of trying to perfect the handfull of levels available.

4.Bioshock Infinite
- The story alone gets it top 5, well mainly the ending gets it there, good twist to the story with some fun gunplay. Like other Bioshocks it felt like a chore at times.
3. GTA V
- Well obviously the great characters make the game it is , i thought the three worked well with some good comic relief when you cut to Trevor. Nothing beats driving to a job only to be distracted up a pedestrian filled mountan path that leads to a giant drop that you drive off and parachute down to the next car you boost.

2.Tomb Raider
- This game suprised me the most this year, truthfully i hadnt even planned on buying it but im damn glad i did. Thought it was a great reboot to the series, good cover system, good story and i tried to use that bow as much as possible lol, also found myself deliberately dying at times just to see the death animation.

1. The Last Of Us
- Well what can you say that hasnt been said? not much.
The reason i loved it is the emotional ride it takes you on, from the first 10 mins of the game to the very end credits the story has you fully immersed and it just gets it right.I dont think i have been emotionaly involved in a game before like i was with this.
I loved the slower pace/stealth element to the game.
Found the pacing spot on, you have parts like the Giraffe scene that dont mean much but just slows the game down and adds a bit of emotion to the whole experience, to those moments that that speeds it up and gets the heart racing like the sniper section.
Visually it is stunning for a game on old tech.
For me it is in my top couple of games i have ever played, it was a perfect ending to a generation of gaming.

HM - Splinter Cell: Blacklist

5.
4. The Last of Us
3. Tomb Raider
2. Bioshock Infinite
1. Grand Theft Auto V

Once I play some PS4 games I'll add a game to number 5, I'm already thinking that will be NBA 2K14.

Well I was wrong about my number 5, NBA 2K14 has been slightly disappointing. So, to round out my top 5, the 5th spot goes to Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

5. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
4. The Last of Us
3. Tomb Raider
2. Bioshock Infinite
1. Grand Theft Auto V

Was hoping I could get through Bioshock Infinite before the deadline, but due to being so busy I just haven't been able to start it. So my list will have to move on without it. Same goes with Beyond, but that one probably wasn't going to feature too high in all honesty.

Most of my gaming year was spent getting through PS+ games, thus not a huge amount of new stuff. But this was still a year chock full of quality.

5. Far Cry: Blood Dragon - Hands down the best piece of DLC ever! So perfectly themed and executed with an amazing soundtrack to boot. Using the already pitch perfect mechanics of Far Cry 3, but cutting to the chase with an awesome throwback story. Great gameplay variety, some hilarious one liners and good pacing overall too. Great piece of DLC.

4. FIFA 14 (PS4) - I wouldn't have thought this could make the list after what was looking to be an average upgrade on PS3. But the movement to next-gen has added a realism, fun and variety to the game that well surpasses the previous generations efforts. I have only cracked the surface in Career, Ultimate Team is as strong as ever and the copious amount of modes cater for whatever need or urge I have for the day.

3. Grand Theft Auto V - GTA is back with a bang with the biggest world yet! While I did enjoy the game immensely it sits at number 3 as it just didn't grab me as hard as it could've. Franklin was a miss for me overall, just didn't care for him as a character and his dialogue was generally deplorable. Michael and Franklin brought the awesome but on the whole the story didn't really bring to as much of a cohesive pinnacle as I would've hoped. Still, fantastic game with plenty of missions (took me over 40 hours to complete) and a very cool online element that is still lacking in some features that could push it towards the top of my list. One thing I am still baffled by with GTA games though is how they just can't properly incentivise collectibles, they added a proper 'story element' to them but are completely and utterly boring to collect. Plenty of other games have done it right and yet GTA games continue to lag behind? So weird.

2. Rayman Legends - Takes what Origins did so amazingly well and bumps it up by about 14,000 notches! A absolute SHITLOAD of levels that are all extremely well polished and offer an insane amount of variety. The musical levels are some of the most fun I've had with gaming and continue to impress at how well timed and executed they are. The standard platforming still has that old school vibe of the SEGA/Nintendo days of yore. Simply a phenomenally polished and executed game that everyone needs to play.

GOTY. The Last of Us - It's hard to describe this game without going into gushing depths that will see this post go beyond what the average person is willing to read. But suffice it to say that this game is a once in a lifetime experience that I urge anyone with an interest in great storytelling and pacing to give this game a go. The game was exactly what I love in a game, or a media experience for that matter. A do anything you want type of gameplay experience that mixes some Deus Ex, Hitman and Uncharted all into one. A horror atmosphere where every environment felt dangerous, even when you were in reality safe. Pacing that was absolutely top notch moving from frantic chases, to stealth moments of high tension, to serene moments to even the moments created yourself just admiring the scenery or carnage ahead! The story and graphics were also a class above just about anything else. Taking the time to tell a complete story and develop the characters over rushing through the story was a bold move and one that ultimately payed off at the end. Then there's the multiplayer that offered a change of pace to the normal as well, adding in the outstanding build mechanic that makes for some incredibly tense moments. Had some great times with the BigFooty brethren in the MP. Cannot wait for this DLC that is coming soon.
