Biggest Frontrunner in the AFL

Nathan Eagleton hands down I've never seen a more frustrating player.
Although everytime it looks like Eagleton might be dropped he actually plays a good game both ways, rather than when we are just winning with the run on.

Yeah, probably because you always notice him 15 metres away from the contest flapping his arms around like a seagul. :D:eek:

Well that might be it. I just had a look at his stats and he certainly has some good ones in losses. I'm pretty surprised.

Des Headland gets paid more than everyone mentioned so far and is what you call an "outside" player. Maybe you need these front runners in good teams... but they can't win the ball on their own, at least most of the time.

It seems to be pretty unanimous about Thomas. But I've never perceived him as a front-runner. Never stops running or chasing, wins his own ball (check HBG stats if you don't believe it), has over 40% contested possessions... together with Medhurst, Leon and Dids, he's our barometer. When those guys are down, we lose.

Yeah, but...but........he's got gay hair and looks like a girl:rolleyes:

The biggest front runners are the people who have added names to this thread as they have probably never played a game of footy in their life.

Fancy coming on here and having pot shots at elite players whilst we all get fat sitting around a computer!!!

They're ignorant. We were behind against Adelaide and he kicked goal of the week and got us into a winning position in the last half with supreme running efforts and class. How does a win make him a front runner?

Why do you assume that everyone who uses a computer is an inactive, fat slob? That's a terrible assumption in this day and age. Players a subject to being critiqued and criticized, that's part of playing at the elite level. Nobody is suggesting they are better than the players they're mentioning.

That's a good point. A lot of his best games have been in close wins, where he was a major factor in getting us over the line. Look at the semi-final last year, or the Saints game last year, or the first one this year, or the elim final this year as you mentioned. I'd say a front-runner is a player who is only up and about when the team is playing really well. Basically a receiver who flourishes off the hard work and good form of the team. Thomas doesn't fit this description. Perhaps his inconsistency misleads people.
