The main difference is Strachan seems to need a rest after a couple of efforts

I think he’s more a natural footballer than ROB hence he can get the ball more but he’s still not afl fit after how many odd pre seasons so he’s a bust

That a tonguing Strachan delivers as much as ROB after the ruck contest, after all of 7 games, is an indictment on a so called senior player on big coin. I'd rather lose with Strachan tonguing it than allow ROB to swan around interested only in ruck contests.

Only game that interests me is when he plays us, I have zero interest in fantasy football..

Obviously didnt find ROB an easy match up.
That my friend is a foolish response .
He has more than twice the tackles and twice the contested possessions.

It is literally like having two Rob’s when the ball hits the ground.

I’ll let the FF bit pass as it shows you are under pressure with dear Rob

Nope, the ROB hate on here is going nowhere in the short term until we recruit someone better he is it.

Should we have recruited someone better before now absobloodylutely but ROB's basically all we've got until that happens so harping on about him is non productive. Strachan was never a worthwhile project to become our lead ruck right from the day we drafted him...even his biggest fanbois should surely see that now after last year. It is a big failure by list management to allow it get to this point both with lead ruck options, back up options and development ruck options.

ROB can be all we’ve got, doesn’t mean we can’t post how average he is and it’s you who is dragging on the argument by continuing to defend him with rubbery facts.

In what sense does Strachan get the ball more than ROB.

ROB gets a lot more. And when he plays SANFl gets 20 touches easily. Strachan averages around 15-18.

Looking at the game ROB more than held his own against Tristan Xerri when we played the Kangaroos...

So are you suggesting their seasons are similar based off 1 game?

Someone who steps up and changes the game on his own is a star.

A leader is someone who gets EVERYONE to step up and change the game.

You need both, but it's not necessarily the same guy.
I agree with what your are saying I just believe in the football field to get others to step up it's to set the standard for what is acceptable from a performance perspective.

Im sick of those so call leaders who are great cheer leaders and support for others, but when the games on the line perform woefully. This tells the others that it is ok to not perform in crucial moments as long as you're a good team mate and try hard. No, thats not the example and not the standard.

I'm football, your greatest leaders need to be the best and most consistent performers and be the ones that stand up when it matters most.

This explains why Murphy was a shocking choice for a leadership position. he may well be a leader at training but how can players take his selection seriously let alone his leadership when he literally does the opposite of impacting games and goes missing at every crucial point in games. Or he tries to throw his body into a contest and injures his neck. Like whats the point of this guy.

Can we just make some kind of gentlemen's agreement among those of us here on the board to stop using the phrase "tonguing it"? The mental image it conjures up is nothing to do with fitness or football.

The problem is Strachan can’t finish out a game and ends up on the pine injured or subbed

He’s just not conditioned to AFL football

There’s no way you can actually want Strachan playing ahead of ROB consistently without a smirk

Hey fellas, looks like there’s a bit of spice in your preseason training which is always good, seems like Dan is coming along well too. Just wondering if any draft watchers saw Harry Barnett play KPD in juniors? Seems like we’ve abandoned him as a ruck for now with a positional switch at training which I don’t mind at all.

Feel free to PM me if you don’t want to clog up your board, hope you blokes stay injury free over summer, Port aren’t off to a great start.
I’ve always thought he’s a real battler in ruck and wouldn’t make it

Maybe some hope as a KPD , worth a try

Not a bad move by you guys

Cheers Jeff. He’s got no mongrel or aggression which makes it challenging in ruck. Has looked good with the switch at training but a long way to go, although has put on a stack of muscle this preseason. May have been a cautionary tale as to why Dodson went a fair bit later than expected.

Some great SA talent this year. Dyson looks superb and I’m expecting Cumming to rocket into the top 10. Both outstanding young prospects along with Schubert.

In afl per TOG without looking at stats closely presumed that Strachan would actually find ball more being a more natural footballer

But he’s just not afl fit and never will be so is a waste of a list spot
