“Billy reported some concussion related symptoms following a head knock in the VFL that have required further investigation,” Cox told saints.com.au on Friday.

“Club doctors, in consultation with specialists, have recommended he spends the next four weeks on a modified program, out of playing and contact drills.

“With any concussion related incidents, player welfare is paramount. We will take a conservative approach with Billy and he will be monitored closely over the next month.

“He can continue conditioning work and modified non-contact skills, which will set him up for a strong second half of the season."

Not great news for Billy, in an already underwhelming year for him. I am rapt with the response from the club though. If there were any players with other clubs who weren't feeling properly nurtured they would be looking at the Saints and thinking there is a club that cares. Get well soon Billy! Take care of those grey cells, you will need every single one of them!

That's an inventive way of calling someone stupid :p

he stood tall last yr for us and battled as a lone hand in the ruck most of the season and kept going even though he looked totally spent in some games.
Got a bloody big heart does Billy.
At times i think some of us here are too quick to write off both Longer and Hickey as soon as one gets injured or has a couple of quiet games.
IMO they are both very valuable players with still a lot of up side to come. Great position for the club to be in to have both:thumbsu:

I'm not sure if I'm overreacting over something routine but this seems pretty serious.

"The 23-year-old copped a knock to the head late in a VFL game for Sandringham on May 7, but passed all the concussion tests and played the following week.

"The former Lion recently experienced some headaches from a bump at training, and was having trouble with his memory."

Hopefully, Billy is clear of any lasting damage and will be right again soon.

Hickey to get injured this weekend...
