Bling traded

Well done Tiges... definitely won this trade... I say don't use your pick this year... and let it be pick 19 or whatever in two years time... pick 50 them becomes pick 49... and doubt that Geelong would use theirs now... and maybe one other don't use it... and then it becomes pick 45...

So what you got for tambling can become pick 19 + 45... which is very very good deal...

Well done tiges

IMO where it stands at present it is a win-win for both clubs

I have no doubt that the AFC can help Bling optimise his potential however the challenge for the RFC is to use the Bock compo pick wisely

bottom line is that we will not be in a position to assess this trade for another 3-4 season, if Bling ends up playing 100-150 very good games for the AFC nd the Tig's ended up selecting a very good player with their pick then both clubs would have benefited from the trade....

However if Bling has success and the RFC selects a lemon with their pick then this puts a different slant on the trade

good luck with your selection

I think Richie might enjoy the slower pace of Adelaide too.
All Adelaide jokes aside, it's a quieter city than Melbourne and a lot more relaxed. I think he'll enjoy it there.

No... at present it stands at Richmond WIN, Adelaide unknown... I think you can ask all teams who would they want... Tambling or Pick 19 in 2012 + upto Pick 45 this year and only Adelaide fans would say Tambling...

IF Bling can get his body and mind right he will help get the Crows back in top 4 contention. Good luck Richie, some RICHMOND supporters will end up with egg on their faces.

lets hope both clubs do well out of this trade deal, otherwise future trade weeks will be nothing more than rumours, with clubs reluctant to do any trades. good luck bling, and please, please lets hope we dont ontrade the compensation pick for either houli or grigg. good work tigers

I'd say Tambling. I'm glad we got that extra pick, because it does turn it into a pretty good result for us under the circumstances, but I'm a Tambling believer and think he's got some very good football ahead of him.

Adelaide is certainly a slower pace, thats why I moved to Sydney :D

agree, it will be all new and fresh for him with less external expectations

IMO we were happy to part with our 3rd round pick as we may have a 3rd round pick on the way from Freo for Big Griff

we are pleased

and the under current of all this is to put Carlton under more pressure as they were banking on packaging Walker and Jacobs together, so this send them a strong messsage that were happy for Jacobs to walk into the PSD and walk away from Walker as we now have Tambling

I imagine the AFLPA will be pissed at Carlton on both fronts :D

All jokes aside, best of luck to Tambling, it is disappointing for Richmond that he needed a change but you can understand it from both points of view.

What I would like is for our team to start winning games and climbing the ladder, then Hawthorn fans (like the one above) will have egg on their face instead. :thumbsu:

Bling will be much better than David Rodan and 24 months from now we will be laughed at by all and sundry for this trade ... however, he just wasn't going to get it together for us, so in reality we're better off than if we hadn't done the trade.

Tambling will thrive to have the Franklin pressure lifted from his shoulders, and will be much happier away from Melbourne. Some on here think it's weak if you're affected by a bit of abuse from your own supporters over the fence, but it continues when he's out for a quiet drink, filling up the car, buying his groceries, etc.

All the best, Richie.

Big call, if Bling wanted the pressure to lift, re Franklin, all he had to do was play some consistent football for the Tigers, what will his next excuse be if we get lucky and snag a decent player with the picks we got from Adelaide, that he is now carrying the weight of that trade?

All the best to him at Adelaide, but his time at the Tiges was over and for once we didn't get bent over on the deal, happy days :thumbsu:

I think when this trade is looked back on it will be a win win situation. Good luck Bling i hope you realise your full potential. Except when you are playing against us!!!

Hats off RFC you really have turned the corner. Great result for us and I'm not sure
Tambling is ever going to be able to play consistantly good football in saying that the Crows have the set up to get the best out of him.

I just hope he can keep the respect of the players and supporters when they see him drop his head in games or not put his head over the ball.

Also, does anyone on the Richmond board think that maybe we were a little generous with the deal, incase Jacobs went into the PSD (and inturn letting him slip to our pick)? Carlton fans seem to think Richmond is his only other possible destination if he decided to go down that path. He won't be re-signing with Carlton either.

Might be more in that than most people think.

Puts pressure on Carlton to deal on Jacobs.

That's close to how I see it - he was unlikely to get the monkey off the back with the Tigers, so while he could well end up a success at Adelaide you'll have made a gain for yourselves as well. Made sense for both clubs and again, refreshing to see both parties get it done quickly and professionally.

The only shame is thinking us RIchmond supporters could come up with a creative nickname. :D
I thought 'Little Black Tambo' had a nice ring but it never really took off. :D

Pretty sure they (recruiting team) will identify (may have already) if there are enough players in that pick range who have piqued their interest to use it this year. If they are struggling to put names to the pick then they may well hold on to it.
That's the key. Will be interesting to see which way we and other teams go.

if bling turns out to be like david rodan....i don't know what i will do anymore
If he turns out like Rodan we won't regret it one bit.

All the best to Richie. I hoped he'd turned the corner last year and injury-free he could well get back to that form or even surpass it. Doesn't matter now, we move on.

I think the triumphalism, with this trade, is a little misplaced.

Tambling may become a solid performer for Adelaide but he wasn't ever going to at RFC.

This quote has it in a nutshell. Tambling is never going to be the player we all thought he could be when we drafted him. But if he stayed on our list, he wouldn't even become a solid performer. Too much mental baggage. This is why, for RFC, the trade has to happen.

Tambling now has a chance, to fulfill some of his potential. If the Crows can get that, then they will have got good value for their picks, irrespective of how we use them.
