cutting rookies doesnt really do much
He was taking up a Cat A slot, so it's not nothing, gives us a guilt free option to use another senior list spot.

Probably guarantees Byrne a senior spot and Gowers may end up getting a third and final year to stake a claim. With Gallucci out for the year and Wood almost certain to depart actually may be a very interesting reshuffle of our rookies in general now.
You'd think Gowers is well on track for that now, and Byrne being elevated was a certainty with the alternative being delisting.

I think he is better option than some rookie that's unlikely to make it or late draft pick. I believe we went into this season with a spare primary list position.
I know another 2 years on the senior list is a big call by the club, but all the investment has been made now.
Only my opinion but I vote keep him.

I hope for his sake that he is given another contract. The guy has come halfway around the world for a second time, can play and has been ridiculously unlucky with his injuries. I would hate to see him go home having achieved only the 4 games a couple of years ago.

This has genuinely got me down. Feel so sorry for the guy.

I think so as well. He's just missed too much footy and his body just doesn't want to hold up to the rigors of AFL footy.

I'd bet armfields busted nut that he wont be on the list next year. Very much a shame as he is gifted.

Show some ******* ticker and support, CFC. Look what Geelong have now got with Menzel. Guss is worth persisting with. Too easy to flick him. Potential 5-8 year gun.

With you all the way.

He's not old and is a great kick which is something clubs yearn for

And he can play

Maybe also need to consider flow on effect on Byrne mentally

So he'll be playing til he's 33?

For Gussy's sake, I hope he remains a Blue, despite his ongoing hip problems. But if - IF - the club has a bigger picture in mind and Sheehan is moved on, then I'll accept that too. Same with Army, Jamo, Walks or any other player who was with us during the hard times but won't be for our future successes.

After a loooooong time, I am now finally comfortable saying that I trust the club to do what's best with its players.
