Menzel was much younger going through his though. I guess it depends on if we can fill his position with a player that will impact the first team more.

If we were to delist him, perhaps we give him a Northern Blues contract and wait and see if he comes good?

borderline and thats the risk. can he develop in to best 22? definitely, will he have time or will his body allow it? dont know. as a handy running defender he isnt exactly irreplaceable.

Due to his age and the aggressive approach we are clearly taking to get younger players in it is hard to say.

i try and look at it from what the club will do given their comments and where we sit at the moment in our rebuild. i like sheehan but my feel is he will be gone. 26/27 years old next year, played 4 senior games, injury prone and importantly needs to be upgraded to stay. be a big call to keep him

If the club wants to do another sizeable list cut sadly I think this may be it for Sheehan.

We have kept many players with far less upside on our list for a lot longer.
Surely he could justify another year- even jf it is on the senior list

For Gussy's sake, I hope he remains a Blue, despite his ongoing hip problems. But if - IF - the club has a bigger picture in mind and Sheehan is moved on, then I'll accept that too. Same with Army, Jamo, Walks or any other player who was with us during the hard times but won't be for our future successes.

After a loooooong time, I am now finally comfortable saying that I trust the club to do what's best with its players.

Well " most of him" wont have suffered any wear and tear. There are however a few " well worn" pieces of him. If they can get those right he is good to go.

This is daisy all over agiain. Surely we can be capable of distinguishing between a career ending chronic ongoing injury ( giles foot fracture) and a player who has had a dastardly run of bad luck ( daisy and sheehan)
Bottom line, we need depth and talent. This guy can play and should not be carelessly flicked off the list, because we have become impatient. He is far better than most players at the end of our list.

Historically yes we have, difference is with all our off field turnover as well I have a feeling that won't be happening.

I probably need to clarify my point as I probably started the whole thing with what I said. With the club committed to doing a rebuild and discussion of another sizeable turnover it would be the circumstances surrounding Guss' contract (the fact he is in his last rookie year and we HAVE to make a call as he can't stay there) moreso than his ability that determines his future.

If we were a stronger club in field the call may have been to keep him a little longer (quite aware of the Luke O'Sullivan situation for example) but at this stage anyone who is slightly off the pace is at an increased risk.

Hope we find a workaround but am doubtful due to current climate.

daisy WAS a proven premiership player. a long long time ago. agree though no comparison sheehan is definitely better value for the money.
