Depressing re: Cripps. He's one player I really look forward to watching each week. Sure I'll watch the kids now a bit more closely. But he's our bona fide super star. We all know it. They all know it.

**** it.

Whilst upsetting, it still may only be a 1 or 2 week injury for all we know and furthermore, we are in good position of having another really early draft pick whilst still developing these younger types so well in this season. These games have so much in them down late in last quarter that the young guys are really learning heaps from these experiences. So much better than blows outs either way which young players do not gain a lot from. Really think these games will really fast track the developing of SPS, Jack Silvagni, Charlie Curnow, Weitering, Fisher, Cuningham, Macreadie. Even Plowman and Lamb that although not teenagers still young in terms of career games at this level. If we won 10 or 11 games we would probably be looking at pick 9 or something. Instead pick 4 or something looks like what we will get which will be great.

That was Wayne Johnston playing in the 1984 final. Still amazed to this day he played a game that day.
Mad bastard.

If was muscular it probably wouldn't require crutches.
Sadly i reckon its a break, the knee wasn't strapped and there was no ice on the leg.
I reckon they gave him the option to have pain kilers on the bench or go to hospital straight away.
Either way he'll be in hospital for a day or 3 .
Could be worse but i reckon it's almost season ending injury.

Crutches most likely precautionary. Didn't want him to do further damage by putting weight on it.

I saw Cripps smiling on the bench in the last quarter so hoping it's not too bad.

Exactly. Winning 9 or 10 the games is irrelevant. Playing kids and getting games into them is far more important. The bonus is an early pick to potentially use for Kelly.

Not having a go at you personally, and I know it's silver lining stuff and off setting the disappointment in crippa's injury, but I hate the better draft pick argument.
I want the team to get that belief that comes from winning. The confidence that arises from beating the opposition.
Did ya see that lift in SPS after that goal, the confidence was obvious.

I agree that winning has a certain reward in terms of confidence, but so does Bolts messages of things that improve within a players game during losses

Yeah totally understand where your coming from. Unfortunately that's the system. If it's going to benefit the club and give us a better chance at securing a Kelly type then in the long run I'm all for it.

Cripps gone for the year (assuming) is a good opportunity to develop more depth. We'd all love him out there, but on the + side we aren't in the hunt for finals therefore the ability to try and get some other boys in the engine room to provide greater rotation capability is good. W/L doesn't matter - even though losing sucks.

As long as he doesn't miss part of next year it's a relief...no ACL or broken leg please.

I think that Doc kind of plays the role with Byrne, Williamson and ASOS hopefully close to coming back to shore up the defence. Not like for like but not a bad compromise.

Once Byrne is match fit, i'd like Doc to be FT mid.. Williamson for sheahan - who i believe may not make it..

Thing is... if we had of won yesterday we literally would have been in the hunt for finals
