Mr Plow - 6-8 weeks for an acute metatarsal?

My confusion is it was originally diagnosed as ‘ankle’.

Why the confusion if it was a straight forward metatarsal? I’m confused.

Could it be a proximal avulsion fracture? Commonly occurs same time as an ankle injury?

Is it confirmed metatarsal? If so, decent news, they heal well with time. Beats a navicular or Lisfranc.

Depends which metatarsal, ankle inversion injuries can commonly result in a proximal 5th MT 'Jones' fracture.

In any case, I don't know how it differs in athletes, but in the community they are often managed in a moonboot for 6-8 weeks and then back into loadbearing.

He might come back into consideration deep in finals.

Been informed that Phips season is over with stress fractures in his foot.
Philp's gutted because he only wants a decent run to prove himself.
Club's gutted because they have high raps for the kid and expect him to be a long term star.
On the bright side, this might explain his lack of standout in the reserves

They haven’t confirmed anything. I’ve tried to piece together the early ‘ankle’ news with the broken foot diagnosis. The only overlap in most stuff I’ve read (I’m bored) is that rolled ankles are often correlated with proximal breaks fo 5th metatarsal. Most seem to heal without surgery and take 6-8 weeks?

That's correct, and does fit with the timeline we've been given. I would put that top of the list.

Just as he was emerging into one of my favourite players... * sake.

Stocker's turn then, I guess. Small defender depth chart ends there with Williams and Williamson unavailable?

Wow, was really hoping it was just a slight sprain or something.

Yep now it's not just the tall defenders we need to worry about. One more small defender goes down and we have nothing until Williams comes back (4 weeks?). My guess is we'd put someone like Newnes back...

But also, Stocker wasn't in great form and got dropped for Boyd. We're just going to have to go with him and hope he plays better.

Boyd's speed gave us something and meant we could comfortably play him on fast opponents like Frederick last week. Whereas Stocker isn't the quickest.

Boyd's kicking has also been fantastic. I think Stock is generally a good kick but he made some bad clangers his last few games.

FFS 🥺

Boyd just starting to settle and looking comfortable at the level, has the run pace hardness and ball use matching up against the oppo smalls we’ve been crying out for…
Unfortunate hopefully comes back for us for finals…

He's actually perfect for the balance of our team as the quick, competitive small lockdown defender. But he can also contribute offensively with his kicking.

We all love Stocker, but he's not really a lock down defender IMO, doesn't quite have the closing speed and agility to play on the slippery small forwards.

Yep, Boyd to Stocker is a fair downgrade based on form.

Boyd is an absolute beauty and should be offered a 2 year contract. Offers a real point of difference for us.

Stocker has been going well in the twos too. Remember he has had a very interrupted season due to injury too. Watch him comes back into the side and start playing more like he did late last year. The MC mistake was bringing him back from his second injury and playing him in the ones right away.
We are lucky to have such a great young bull ready to come into the team, seems the side has taken a leaf out of his mongrel book this year too
