If they are uncontracted they will go, philp and marchbank unlikely to get new deals. Mcgovern is an intereesting one. His form has been average. It will depend on the whole season but I would not be averse to trading him for a pick in the 30's given age & injury record and the fact Kemp can perform his role. If mcgovern wants any more than 350k for a performance based 2 yr deal, we should let him walk
Kemp atm isn’t McGovern’s bootlace as far as quality goes, Gov’s made a few mistakes first few weeks but if you can’t notice the difference of level between the two of them then I’m not sure what else to say…
Kemp is atm miles behind and besides a good VFL game Friday unfortunately hasn’t put anywhere near enough of a consistent level of work to replace him…

I honestly don't think the picks after 50 are that bad, you just have to manage expectations. Plenty of great role players, rough gems, as well as mature age players.

You can see the clubs that use stats to heavily talk themselves out of such things, and those who use stats to support arguments for picking players.

Take it to List Management.

Thanks!

Did hear on Saturday Walsh to play half a game in the VFL (Carlton Vs Richmond at Ikon Park, Friday 14th night game) before being available to play AFL the week after, Rd.6 V St Kilda at Marvel on Sunday 23rd.

Unsure of how reliable source is.
That fits the timeline we've been given (assess at round 4), but then again someone could guess that.

I really doubt we'd play Walsh in the VFL. If he's good to go, he plays seniors. if we're not sure we shouldn't risk him.

as a pure fitness test i like it, i also like the fact we aren't so short of midfield quality we can do it this way, after a decade of rushing talent back in, often underdone.

If he has met his KPIs, he plays ones.

Playing limited time in the 2s - waste of time for someone his calibre....

it would be like restricting me to the blue room for a week - can get injured in there but surely, surely, my gentle, nurturing style is more beneficial here.....

Of our next 3 opponents, despite being the most injury hit, the Saints are the most concerning and for me would be the one that I’d want Walsh back for.

The Roos will still be challenging and hard-nosed, but Saints seem to be our bogey

Saints will be missing Steele now. Ross is a Boss, but I think he will be the straw that breaks that camel's back. They have a lot of flashy guys like Sinclair but I think Steele is as important to them as Cripps is for us.

Let's see how it plays out.

Mar 27th update hasnt changed for Caleb. "still in early stages of rehabilitation" so no timeline in a return yet. For a calf injury that's a worry.

He's not going to be around for a while. What exactly even is the injury?

I could see half a game in the VFL working. More like an pre-season game for him if anything.

Coming right into the AFL is difficult after injury anyway, let alone when you missed all of pre-season too. He'll need to get some live action touch, half a game would be ok imo.

I'm not against that, but we didn't do it last year and I doubt we'd do it now.

Most top end AFL players don't play VFL, even after a long time out.

Shame to read about Sam Durdin, hoping he has a quick recovery

For your average schmuck maybe, not our boy Walshy
